Great walk
2021年1月
This is a great walk, allow time to soak up the view and maybe swim at the other end. It is up and down then up and down on the back. It was very hot when we walked so built up a sweat! Def take water with you. The views are stunning and worth the climb. You can walk a little way and just get to the lookout if you don't want to walk the whole way. If you climb around the rocks at the Hole in The Rock you can see the wharf.

Well worth the effort
2020年12月
It's worth making time to do the Cooks Cove Walkway if you are anywhere near Tologa Bay. While there is a couple of quite long series of steps, its completely manageable if you are reasonably fit as the track is well made. There are plenty of viewing spots and seeing the hole-in-the -wall and walking down to the cove itself makes your effort very worth while. Don't forget to climb up to the memorial above the cove for an even better view.

A special place
2020年12月 • 独自旅游
This is an easy 5.6 km stroll through paddocks with a few steep steps through bush in the middle. It took about 40-45 minutes each way and was a pleasant walk under the hot East Coast sun. There's a great lookout as well as other splendid views while walking through the farm. It's very rewarding knowing that Captain Cook landed here in New Zealand just over 250 years ago

Hiking and History

This is a pleasant walk but be aware there are a couple of steeper parts but nothing that can’t be handled by the average walker provided you’re not in a hurry. There are markers across the paddocks but the occasional one has been knocked over possibly by the sheep. There is no real likelihood however of getting lost. The information boards are good and the various points of interest are well marked. The Cove will have silted up since 1769 but one can still see why it was an attractive place for Cook to anchor and resupply. Best on a fine day.

great walk, but not as easy as described

This is a good maintained walk way with a good parking lot. The first bit, just 10 minutes are steps up, until the maori monument. Then it continues through the fields. Soon after the highest point, where Cooks Cove is visable the decent starts and that is the thing, you go up and down to get there, so you need to go back the same way again, so two reasonable inclines. But the rewards are worth it. Also dont forget to go to the marker. I really enjoyed this walk

Amazing walk across sheep farm land and with great views towards the ocean and cooks cove. Plenty of lookouts. Bad signage though.

Beautiful Scenery - excellent walk.

This does take a bit out of you as there are some steep parts and the day we did it it was especially hot. However it is well worth it. Views of rolling hills and the sea abound. The first part involves a climb to the monument and then there is a mix of down and up which takes you to the Hole in the Wall - a lovely spot which affords views onto a different part of the sea. A further walk takes you to the Cove itself. A lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

1. Cooks Cover Walk. Another must, Plenty of parking at the gates. Quite a steep climb up formed stairs to begin with up the beacon monument, the first viewpoint. Less than a half hour. Then over small valleys and thistle fields to the cove lookout. Well worth the effort for a spectacular view for miles. About another half hour to hike way down the sheltered beach for a picnic and swim. The only bad new is that it's all up hill for most of the way back. Wear good walking shoes and maybe a walking stick / pole. Take plenty of water.

Guter Walk mit anstrengendem Start

Guter Walk durch Farmland. Der Anfang bis zur Skulptur ist der anstrengendste Part. Von der Skulptur bis zum Lookout ohne Schatten, dann wieder im Wald.

This place is nice and secluded. We traveled around on a boat to go into other bays. Not bad ride around.
