This was an interesting place to walk around and see what the settlers ensured when coming to Iowa. I know I would have made a terrible pioneer! The costume displays were nice. I'd have liked to know more about the first years through a local historian tour - for instance, why did nearly half the original settlers die the first year? The tour of the miniature village was fine, but more about the actual history of Pella would be appreciated.

Last tour at 2:30, but was able to visit the village on self-guided tour. Several buildings and Lots of artifacts to check out.

Ten folks in my reunion group toured the village and had a wonderful guided tour of the windmill. Very knowledgeable gentleman giving the tour and we all learned a lot. A very fun day in Pella.

This is a cute town, we went on the last week of April and the tulips were partially blossing. But please be advised that 70% of the places are closed on Sundays. Unfortunatelly we didn’t know . But it was still a very nice town to visit and to walk outdoors in the cute downtown area.

The tour of the Windmill was very interesting and informative. We enjoyed it very much, and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.

The tour and guides were extremely informative and interesting. We loved learning how the windmill operates, seeing how the Dutch lived in different areas and seasons in the miniature village, and then seeing it in real life size as we walked through the historical village. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend a visit!

Our family and my husband immigrated to the USA so we love to see the history of the different groups and where they settled. This is a great place to see all of that. The tour in the windmill and the village outside are fun and wel represented. We had two childeren with us and they enjoyed the visit just as much. In the windmill there is a mini exibit which is beautifull. This is wel worth the money you spend, you can easily spend a few hours and you may leave to have lunch somewhere and come back again.

They provide a great tour of the window and the history of Pella. It exceeded our expectations. Very nice and worth the price.

The entire village and mill are fantastic, but we didn't know that Wyatt Earp lived here during his boyhood years. His home has been closed for several years for renovation and is now open....I did not expect such a professional exhibit in a small midwestern town. That house alone took us 45 minutes to go through, so well done.

How long should I plan to visit the windmill and historical village? From the website it looks like the house will be closed on the day I plan to visit.

Oh maybe a couple hours. You have to buy tickets so I am sure you know they have to be open when you visit.

If I remember correctly, it was $10/adult for the windmill and $5/adult for the Scholte House. While you're there, be sure to take a run over to Winterset--an hour-and-a-half or so west--to see the new John Wayne Birthplace and Museum and visit the bridges featured in "The Bridges of Madison County." Worth a side trip.
