It seems to be a Kansas thing, or maybe a rural America thing, making art out of metal salvage parts and such. Every artist has their own vision and it is always worth a few minutes to stop and check it out.

My girlfriend is a native of Howard, Kansas and she insisted on taking me to see the sights. I was actually really impressed with the metalwork of the sculptures at Hubbles Rubble. The quirkiness of the characters and designs really makes you want to stop in this small town and get a closer look.

Interesting folk art along the main highway. It has been here for many years. Grassroots art that is available for viewing around the clock.

Right next a tiny restaurant is Hubbles Rubble. Very cute and whimsical art work. This is a place you want to stop at just take all of the really cool and cute art work in.

In the middle of town, on a grassy block along the west side of Kansas highway 99 (at the corner of Adams Street), are all kinds of welded sculpture. Hubble's Rubble makes the trip fun. I'll add a few photos, but there's plenty more to see!
If you're coming off the Kansas Turnpike at Emporia and headed for Tulsa (or vice versa), this route is about as direct as any... though try heading a bit out of the way to Coffeyville, Kansas and south on US169 to Nowata, Oklahoma for the bowling ball sculptures.
(For a lot more offbeat attractions like this, see the Roadside America website. They give you a nice break while driving the sometimes-monotonous Midwest.)

A collection of statues/objects made out of scrap metal, there is the Wicked Witch on her bike, A purple people eater, an old stagecoach, and many other oddities. The were made by a local farmer using stuff no longer usable on the farm. It sits on the side of the road as you pass thru Howard on Route 99. There is a guest book in an Outhouse that has been signed by people from all over the world who have stopped in to see it. There are a couple of local restaurants close by if you want to stop for a bite to eat while you are there
