Looking for different things to do in Kansas City, we found that the speedway offered ride alongs with a professional driver. It’s only three laps around the oval, but you’ll be smiling and laughing and wahooing the whole time! They suit you up in a jumpsuit and helmet, then help you climb into the passenger seat through the window. Suddenly there are a bunch of hands buckling you in and one hand in a thick glove extending from the driver’s seat for a firm handshake. Rob, our new favorite NASCAR driver, gave us a thrilling but safe taste of what it’s like to be hurled around the track. Worth every penny and definitely an experience everyone should add to their bucket lists!

Well I will start by saying this was a Christmas gift from my wife and daughter, our time slot was for 8 am but said to be there 30-45 minutes early so we showed up 30 minutes ahead, their directions of where you should be were lousy, no signage and then when we found it we weren’t told which area to be in so we ended up in the riders area and not the area for drivers to register, well after getting registered and fitted for a racing suit they kept telling us it’ll be just about 10 minutes but we waited over an hour after the 30 minutes we showed up early before the safety video even started, when we did get to the track it wasn’t long before I was in my car getting ready to drive, I can tell you the racing experience was totally awesome and would love to do it again, but after I was done we went to the trailer where instructed to get my license back and view the video that we could purchase they told us all their video got was the first lap so they couldn’t sell it to us because the video system glitches or something, this was really disappointing since I probably won’t get to ever do it again, the driving experience itself was awesome but not too happy with the late starts and the video issue

We purchased a ride along for my husband for his 30th birthday, originally purchased in October 2017.
He absolutely loved the experience and will be talking about it for a long time.
We arrived 30 minutes earlier than the arrive time indicated and came to see a huge lineup of people waiting for their rides. Unfortunately the time slot that we signed up for was not respected. They only had 2 ride along cars going. We waited over 2 hours in line before his turn.
After his 2 minute ride he said he’d do it all over again, so I guess it was well worth the wait!

Bought Husband and Father in Law the ride along. They absolutely loved it. You do have to suit up and wear a tight fitting helmet. Also, you have to slide in and out of passenger side--it's a tight fit and requires some maneuvering. The ride is about 3 laps--enough they said to feel the power and the skill required to drive a NASCAR. About 165 mph reached. The people working there were funny and friendly. You can take pictures and film on your phone. It was very organized also. The parking is close--just follow signs and you park almost next to track. Worth the price.

We arrived early Saturday am to do our ride with a driver at Kansas Speedway. Staff was simply awesome, couldn't say enough good things about everyone! Very nice people.
Completely different perspective on how I will look at the track. Laps were a lot of fun.
However, cost was a little over $100.00 for two laps that may have lasted 3 minutes. To buy the video and picture was over $50.00. Maybe more like another $100.00 so I passed.
Great time but at the expense, won't do it again.

I will have to say I had a awesome time the whole time there. Everyone there was great and very helpful. From Tammy that signed you in and helped you with your driving suit, Rob the crew chief ,Warren my driving instructor, Gary that helped with the helmets and even Sarah at the merchandise trailer. And everyone else there that I didn't catch their names were just as helpful and accommodating . I enjoyed the whole experience . Even though it rained us out the day before. They were very helpful getting me rescheduled for the next day. They help you through with everything from training up to the driving. They make feel like one of the family . I remember sitting in their garage during the rain. And all of their instructors which most were local racers sharing their stories with us . I could go on and on . I would highly recommend this because it was worth every penny. Richard Petty hired a great group people at this location .

Staff are extremely knowledgeable and courteous! Highly recommend "Rookie Experience" to others. The thru-sight video avail for purchase post-race is pricey but high quality. Get there 30-45 mins early from your booked time so as not to hold the rest of your group up.

I went with my family, not really knowing what to expect. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I did the 3 lap ride-along, then the 8 lap "Sunday drive." All of the people working here were very nice, helpful and encouraging. Overall, they were quite good at their jobs. They were like dealing with friends.
I arrived at Kansas Speedway around 11:30 am and finished around 3:00 pm. The facility couldn't be better. You drive right into the pits. No worries with where to park or where to go once you're there. Once you get around other participants and the staff, you hear then see cars running the track, the excitement mounts. From there it just gets better.
I would do this again in the wink of an eye. The only negative I experienced was that some of the people accompanying participants were completely oblivious, inconsiderate, and in the way. The modern world I guess.

On the spur of the moment we decided to check out the speedway on the way out of town. I encouraged my 14yo son to do the experience. He was a little anxious and hesitant at first. We went to the booth to purchase tickets and answer questions. The woman who helped us, (I wish I remembered her name! Thank you for your special help!) was outstanding and assured him it would be great. And it was! Everyone from the ticket seller to the guys at the track who helped my son get in his gear and into the car, to the driver were outstanding. I was so impressed by the personableness and the kindness of all the staff. They made you feel good, expressed interest and engaged you in conversation. They were having so much fun, it added to our fun! It takes a lot to impress me. But I was impressed. And it will be a memory my son will never forget. And it was a special memory for all of us.

Petty has these are a number of NASCAR tracks. You can choose to drive or ride at breakneck speeds. Plan to spend 2 to 3 hours and make a reservation. Each track has its own schedules which vary during the year.

What can guests of driver do? How long is the experience? At what time should we schedule lunch to follow a 12:00 appointment?

Skip the entire thing. Unless you want to be a passenger. That’s way you can skip the boring class on how to get into a car and just show up and go.
