We stopped here recently to visit the holiday market. They had a good selection of Christmas crafts, decorations, etc. Several different beautiful colors of poinsettias were available; I purchased a couple. Staff is very welcoming and friendly.

We returned to Lawrence the first weekend in October to take in the Kaw Valley Farm Tour. Pendleton’s is one of the 30 plus local farms on the tour. Karen, John and team offer great local grown produce and Kansas made products in their country market. This is a must stop in the Spring for asparagus and in the fall for pumpkins, squash, and other fall vegetables. We moved from the area earlier this year but will return for this great event.

The Pendleton Farm is a great place to purchase tomato starter plants! They have around 100 varieties, many of them heirloom. There's room enough in their multiple greenhouses for wheelchairs & walkers. This is not a completely organic farm, but the greenhouse plants aren't sprayed with anything. This is also not completely an heirloom farm, but ask and Farmers John and Karen will tell you what's heirloom and what's GMO, so you can avoid the latter. Feed the chickens while you're there, watch the trains go by RIGHT NEXT TO YOU and check out their butterfly house in August. Support small farms, & esp. support the non-GMO and organic plants! There's also a nice little store on the premises, so yes, you can get out of the hot sun and/or Kansas wind!

this is a farm east of Lawrence that we like to drive to on Saturdays for fun. Not fancy, in fact it's a pretty simple place. Nice people. Get on their email list and they will tell you when it's time to come and pick your own. We've picked asparagus and green beans so far this year. Or buy it from their coolers that someone else picked. Fresh eggs also. Flowers, lots of ceramic pots, lots of flowers and plants, herbs to buys. Bought a couple of gifts there also.

It's a beautiful drive to this country market and well worth the trip. Check their website for the fresh vegetables and cut flowers available when you come. We bought purple asparagus and spinach in early May. You can pick yourself but you can also buy fresh picked produce from their shop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are happy to help.

I have been going to this market for years. Spring, summer,fall. Always nice interesting local foods,crafts and flowers. You can buy cut or potted plants. Perennials or annuals. In the fall pumpkins,pumpkins ! Probably my favorite time to visit . Easy access to hi way. Enjoy.
