Jerry was amazing! Provided great conversation on the way to the portage site. Super helpful and the river was beautiful. They are not as busy as some of the other places and definitely worth a look.

Awesome trip down the Green River this weekend. Good service. Quick to check-in and get on the water, and then easy getting off the water. Friendly staff. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend Cave Country Canoe!

My wife and I rented a canoe from them for a 7.5 mile trip that should have taken around 3-4 hours. Our canoe was obviously bent and after pointing this out we were told it was ok. It was not. The canoe was difficult to paddle and steer and as the bend got progressively worse it took on water. We sank in the middle of the Green River. I informed them and they are either lying or incompetant because they told me someone else took the same canoe out the next day with no repairs. They are crooks who do not care about anyone's safety. If you sink on the river oh well they got your money so your out of luck. Use a real canoe company that actually knows about canoes. All these people care about is money and the canoes are seriously neglected to the point of being unsafe.

This is a top notch experience, from the couple running the business to the beautiful float down the river. They made everything easy for a couple of oldsters with limited paddling experience. They had the perfect tandem kayak for us, delivered us and the boat to the edge of the water and got us on our way. Great dogs while we waited to get started, great conversation on the trip to the water. Easy float with light paddling the whole way and gorgeous scenery. Really, a perfect day - thanks!

The four people in our party all really enjoyed this kayak trip. The current certainly makes 7.5 miles go much faster than lake kayaking. While it was really hot according to the local weather station it was very pleasant weather conditions to us. It is a little rough ride to get to the trip departure Cave Country Canoe could not have been more accommodating. My husband bugged them several times before our trip asking different questions and they were always very helpful.

Its been 7 months since our visit, so Ill try to remember as much as I can. We chose this company because pricing, timing, and location all worked the best for us. It was quite a hot week but nice and mild on the river at 9am. This nice little family run outfit was wonderful in getting us set up and out onto the river for a short 3 hr trip. We enjoyed watching the chickens roam the property and getting to pet the dog before we set out. I would suggest to anyone who will be ending at the green river ferry to just stop by beforehand and check out the ferry crosing to get an idea of how it looks. You'll have to land your boat as the ferry moves away from the shore making sure to keep clear of the ferry. Its no big challenge, however, and we had no problems.
I do not recall names, but there was a nice man who drove us quickly to the river, and a nice young woman who checked us in and picked us up. You all do a great job and we hope to see you again. This will always be a special river trip for us because we got engaged on one of the islands along the way. Thank you for a great adventure.

Firstly congratulations on your engagement!! There is something magical about this river, it seems that many of our customers have connected or reconnected while on their paddle. We are a family of five with set of 12 twins and a six year old. We rented two canoes, form cave country canoe and did the 7.5 trip down the river. We had a great time, the river was a bit high but still perfect for beginners. Our 12 yrs have limited experience canoeing being scouts, but they handled their own canoe like pros.
The owners were so nice and friendly, real pleasure to rent from.
They had everything we needed for a Successful trip. Very affordable and would highly recommend.

My family booked two canoes through Cave Country Canoe and the experience was perfect.
I contacted them over the phone and set up the reservation. The morning of our float, we first drive to their office, which is just outside the park, to pay for the canoes and get fitted for life vests. Then we followed their van with the canoes to the point where our trip would end to park our car and then hopped in their van to be taken to the place we’d start our trip.
After the float, there is a designated area to leave your canoes and then you just drive away. They take care of everything from there.
It was so easy. They offer several different kinds of floats, from half day to all day to overnight.
I highly recommend them.

As far as I know, Cave Country Canoe rents both canoes and kayaks, but everyone in our family has their kayak. My wife chose this business because they will transport privately-owned kayaks. [I don’t know why I am surprised by this fact, but my wife told me that some companies won’t transport privately-owned equipment. She also told me that they are pet friendly, but I didn’t ask about their pet policy.]
So, in essence, we paid for transportation upriver and again back to our truck at the end of the trip. Service was reasonably prompt, and the staff were helpful. The van we rode in (both ways) shows its age, but that comes with the territory.
I’m not giving 5 stars for two reasons. First, the trailers are a bit short for some kayaks, including a basic 9.5 foot kayak. More importantly, however, is the price. We paid $30/person — and there were four of us, so the total cost was $120. I find that quite expensive for a short van trip down the road.

It was so nice to meet you all and we appreciate how hard it is to have all your own equipment, being used to just going when you are ready, then having to wait some while other people are signing in and loading. Ultimately I'm glad we could get you out onto the river so you could enjoy some time on the beautiful Green River, with your family and hope that you had a fantastic time! Thank you for taking a few moments to share your experience with us and others. Customer feedback is the best tool for us to know how we are doing and how we can improve and we value your opinion.
For those reading the reviews and for your future reference, the other 2 liveries here at Mammoth Cave National Park area do shuttle private equipment but I also know that they do it based on what their day is looking like and have turned people away on occasion. I don't know for sure what they charge because that also varies but many people come to us because the "other livery" is more expensive. I can't speak for them but maybe they would be cheaper on some occasions. Our rates are fixed for each different paddle and are per vessel whether single kayak, tandem kayak or canoe.
Regarding our pet policy, we welcome your pet and we ask only that you have your pet leashed while visiting and traveling with us (MCNP requires pets to be leashed also). While in the canoe/kayak leash is not required. There is no additional charge or deposit when you bring your pet along.
Finally, travel times to and from the river for the 7.5 mile Dennison to Green paddle are 20 minutes/7 miles to the river and 10 minutes/5.5 miles back from the river. 12 mile Green to Houchins is 10 minutes/5.5 miles to the river and 30 minutes/17 miles back from the river. Our location is 10minutes/5 miles from the Visitor's center at the park and 7 minutes/4miles from I65 Cave City exit. Hopefully that will help when planning out your day.

Yes, we are pet friendly. Be sure to have your leash with you as the park requires all pets to be on leash. Once you are on the river you can take their leash off.
