I really was expecting something special at this location and there was BUT there was so much lacking. The museum was tiny and included a few oversized laminated poster boards which explained the events of the various phases of Jefferson Davis' life. There was a small table which belonged to Jefferson Davis, a small exhibit showing what his office would have looked like, several items from Kentucky's last and oldest Confederate Soldier and a short video showing how the monument was built.
The monument was amazing. An elevator takes you up over 350' high from which you can look out three windows and see the beautiful Kentucky countryside. A guide explained the history of the monument, it's funding and some interesting anecdotes (when the stairs are used - for emergencies only, the thickness of the walls (9 feet at the bottom, 2 1/2 feet at the viewing station).
Why only three stars? I expected more...a replica of the house where Jefferson Davis was born (they built one but sided it and didn't vent it so now it has black mold and cannot be entered)....a better gift shop....more items belonging to Jefferson Davis? The staff was wonderful and answered all of our questions and almost took this location to 4 stars.
It would be a nice place for a family picnic as it did have shaded tables and modern toilets. Entrance to museum was $6 and another $6 to go up to the viewing level in the monument.

This was our second visit to the monument. We brought a 13 year old grandson with us this time. The museum is small but it is worth the price. Davis was a brilliant and forward thinking man. We were able to get our photo with Jeff Davis walking stick. They only bring it out when there are few visitors and/or young visitors. Sadly the elevator was not working so we couldn't go to the top. I would go back again.

We stopped here about a year and a half ago. It was not open that day. Today we stopped again and had a tour of the tower. We also went through the Museum. It was a good stop and we found out how much Jefferson Davis had done for the country.

Very nice place to visit good ride to monument

We stopped her on our way back from Land between the lakes, we are glad we did. This was a pretty cool stop as the monument is huge and my 7yr old and few others got a history lesson. We really enjoyed this stop. The staff inside the gift shop and information center was friendly and helpful. So if you have time, stop by and take a look.....a long look up.

This is a very well done exhibit. The museum is small, but very informative. The view from the top of the monument is spectacular. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. There is a picnic area and playground. This is a nice daytrip for a family. The history is very enlightening.

This is a great historical monument and a opportunity to learn a little about the life and times of Jefferson Davis the President of the Confederacy during the Civil War.
I have been driving within a few miles of this place during rode trips for several years and finally I took the time to go the couple of miles off of my planned route to pay a visit, I am very happy I did!
I stopped in later in the day and there were no crowds or parking issues, there was no charge for parking and a $5 charge for the elevator trip to the top, well worth it. The employees were very helpful and seemed knowledgeable of the history around Jefferson Davis and the monument. You must take the elevator trip to the top of the monument for some awesome views and to learn some interesting facts about the structure and its construction. I would visit the park again in the future.

This is a fascinating part of Kentucky history. Only 200’ shorter than the Washington Monument, our grands ages 11 and 12 loved the view from the top. It is definitely worth a stop. Kentucky is beautiful y’all.

We live an hour and half away, so on Labor day we decided to load up and check out the Jefferson Davis Monument. I've known that Jefferson Davis was born in the area, but until recently didn't realize there was a 355 foot monument established in his honor. If you're within 2 hours of this attraction, I would recommend checking it out. It cost $10 per person to go up in the monument and to check out the "Museum". I quote the word museum because it was just a small area behind the clerks desk with a couple of artifacts and posters explaining Jefferson Davis life. The ride up the monument was worth the $10 alone, IMO.

This was a place I saw driving from Murray to Bowling Green. It looked like the Washington Monument out in the middle of nowhere Kentucky! Signage as I got closer informed me it was the Jefferson Davis Monument. Well a year later I was traveling back to Murray with a colleague. Both of us are history lovers and we decided to check it out. When we pulled in, I didn't realize that there was a small museum as well. There is a price for monument, (ride to top for view), museum or both. My co worker doesn't do heights so it was the museum. It doesn't take long to go thru. But Jeff Davis is so connected to Civil War that it is easy to forget the other accomplishments he had to American history prior to the war. It was a nice little stop and I agree with another review. I hope this is in such an out of the way place, that the PC group won't find it. History is history
