We’ve stopped here before and, like last time, were not disappointed. We sat outside in the extensive seating area and had scones with cream and jam, together with a pot of tea. Everything was tasty and there was some sort of vintage car meeting going on, which made for some interesting scenery. There was not an overly large selection available when we got there, approximately 2pm in the afternoon but we only wanted tea and cake, so were satisfied.

A slightly misleading title; not so much gardens as a massive marketing opportunity. We actually had to ask the way to the garden entrance which was behind the gift shop, cafe, plant sales area etc etc. A great day out if you like shopping - although some of the prices are extraordinary - and the gardens are very pretty when you find them though there is not a lot to see. Food in the cafe was good but beware of sitting near the doors which no-one closes behind them.

My friend discovered this place on one of her many trips along the M40 so we decided to visit. Very glad we did! First stop the Tea Room, good coffee, tea loaf and chocolate & Guinness cake - excellent and very moist. As it was a Wednesday we were able to purchase tickets for the Fresco Tour of the House, starting at 2pm. So late morning we took our time around the Gallery, garden centre and museum where a lovely gentleman gave us information about several exhibits, plus details about the Ice House.
We realised that we were not going to have enough time to warrant the garden admission charge before the House tour so we abandoned that plan. Judging by a couple of recent reviews we made the right decision.
On to the House. We were greeted by Simon, the Steward (amongst other things) of the Estate. Extremely knowledgeable, informative and interesting. We really had no idea about the history of the House and Estate but came away inspired. The Frescoes are incredible, every detail explained by Simon. He also showed us the retreat accommodation with a fabulous working kitchen.
We ended the day with a visit to the small but atmospheric church next to the house plus a final treat in the Tea Room.
A big thank you for a very different day out.

Underwhelming in March. Over priced charging the full entry price when so little is in bloom. Snowdrops have gone over & not enough of anything else out. Cafe is good but you can use that without paying.

Cafe is fine, scones good, coffee OK and is dog friendly. Vast majority of Waterperry gardens are not dog friendly. While my friends went in I was left to roam car park area and adjoing field. My friends felt a £10.50 entrance fee in March very poor value indeed. There was little of interest to see. It is fine not being dog friendly but it should be clear that no entry for dogs into the ornamental gardens in fact means the whole garden.

Lovely little place. Great gardens (even in late October there was still plenty of colour). Nice cafe. Good shop and gallery.
Easily spend half a day here or just call for a cuppa to break up motorway journeys.

We wanted a pit stop and couldn't have been happier to find Waterperry. A beautiful and varied garden, formal planting, wide open spaces and hidden enclaves.
Lunch - had a great selection of hot options and snacks and cakes.
A short detour from the M40 / A418 / A40 - well signposted from the motorway.
Good option for a driving break.

We visited here [not for the first time early in September]. Though the gardens had suffered a little from draught they were still lovely. The long herbaceous border is a joy at this time of year. The plants for sale were good quality.
I would advise against coffee in the cafe. It is always so weak; we are going to try to remember to take a flask next time!

Dogs are only allowed on a short lead around the estate and are NOT allowed within the ornamental gardens.

Hi there too, is it possible to hire/borrow and/or use wheelchairs this year? I have just torn a ligament/muscle in my leg and can only really walk with crutches at the moment. I have already bought tickets and would hate to waste them!

Yes we have 2 mobility scooters and 4 wheel chairs that are available to use. We advise that you book ahead to ensure availability for your visit. Please call 01844 339225 and select option 2 for the Garden Shop, where they can make a reservation for you.

Didn't see any for hire or to use, entering the gardens the path is narrow but once past that the going was easy I would suggest you phone them to confirm that a wheel chair could be used, as you say it would be a shame to miss out, good luck
