Nice place to take your family. The kids loved petting the sharks and the sting rays. They also liked the bridge, even though it was scary with sharks underneath.

Loved the exhibits and the fact that the location only allows so many visitors with dedicated times, otherwise this would have been way too crowded!

Two attempts to visit Newport Aquarium and neither visit worked out. First attempt with our out-of-town guests was cancelled because we had been to the aquarium since a reservation system was put in place and there was no availability to attend at a time that was convenient.
Second attempt was just for my two year old so that we could get his free toddler pass that had been advertised. In fact the toddler pass was to be used as a one time visit only because none of our other family members had a pass and it was expensive to visit. Our one time visit for 2 adults, 2 kids (excluding the toddler) would be $140 for 1-2 hours of entertainment.
We arrived early to have dinner first, but found out the toddler pass line was a 1 hour wait so we skipped our dinner plan and got in line. By the time we got to the window the staff asked for a government proof of my 2 year old’s age. They explained I was at fault if I didn’t have the proof of my toddler’s age, because the online system has clear instructions. At that moment I remembered reading those instructions and how ridiculous it was; however, I didn’t have the proof with me because that was 3 weeks ago and I sincerely forgot.
I asked for a manager, I asked if I could share my son’s daycare letter that he was transitioning to a 3 year old room and if they could honor this as a customer service, but they indicated this was not valid proof - it needs to be government issued.
The manager asked how she could make it right, but then offered us no options. Hence, we decided to get a refund and leave as it was not easy for our family to get there in the first place and the entire process was getting complex, expensive and negative for what was supposed to be a great family experience, mainly for our 2 year old.
The manager also made an issue about needing a driver’s license to refund the additional $5 from the online booking which I’m sure staff will say is policy, but I’m not a spring chick and at this point I think they were intentionally making the refund difficult for us. We had the original form of payment for the $5.
As we left they told us to have a great rest of our day - which struck both me and my partner as very rude that they were happy to turn us away. They were happy to deny a 2 year access. And we could not pivot to another activity like Children’s Museum or the Zoo because the reservation system meant our arrival to the attraction was later in the day.
This Aquarium operates like a military camp when it comes to admissions and is not family centric. No other attraction I’m aware of requires birth certificates and government identification for entry of a 2 year old. In-fact, attractions are usually free for 2 year olds.
However, if Newport Aquarium is actually sincere about their family guests, then please note that even Disney World, a very crowded and complex operation overall, does not charge for 2 year olds or ask for proof of age and they seem to profit just fine.
There are opportunities for Newport Aquarium to learn from other businesses on how to be family-centric and remain reasonably competitive. My two cents is keep it simple - 2 year olds are free and 3+ are charged a ticket price. We of course will not benefit personally because our 2 year old turns 3 in a week; however, at least it’s simple, clear and easy for families to comply.

This place was wonderful. It had lots of fish, turtles, frogs, seahorses, sharks, penguins, and other creatures. You could get up close and personal while walking under, beside and even above aquariums. You could touch jellyfish, sharks, and stingrays. There’s also a nice food court inside the building.

09/18/2023, We took 3 of our Grandchildren to the Aquarium. They had so much fun !! They are still talking about it tonight. I want to thank them for a Wonderful experience. I, personally am in a Power Wheelchair and they have done an amazing job on Accessibility. They even have Accessible Rest Rooms. The kids got to pet Sharks, Starfish, a Lizard and saw several Skeletal displays. The Penguin Display was awesome. So we're the Albino Alligators. Thank you for a job well done.

Great visit - really enjoyed this. LOTS to see. The only negative is that the glass could have been kept more clean. We went in at the start of the day and there were hand prints all over the glass clearly from previous day(s), LOVED IT!

Quite disappointed, as compared to other aquariums and zoos we have been to within Ohio and other states. It was so crowded on a Friday morning and start to finish, we made it through in 40 minutes. There is very little to see as compared to even the aquariums at the Columbus Zoo. Won’t be back again unless there are major improvements to the displays.

This aquarium was very well done. Exhibits were organized well with some hands on sites which made it more enjoyable. The location was a bit difficult to find and tickets needed to be bought in advance. Big city driving and hard to find the parking ramp made it a bit difficult for this rural girl!

Is parking free? If not, what is the fee? Thanks!

Parking is not free. If you park in the garage their is an additional cost of $6.00 on top of ticket cost etc.
Are there lockers or a coat check? Planning on walking from hotel in winter but don't want to be stuck with everything inside the aquarium. If not, would using parking garage be a better option?

Sorry, just saw your question. Believe they did have lockers, and maybe sone on outside. But leaving it in the parking garage is the way to go, as there is literally no where else to park.
