Came with my mom as she is a gardener. Overall, large area to explore. Nice flowers and plants. There is a trail path to explore. It is nice that there is a restaurant within the gardens as well.

We weren’t sure if we would enjoy this or not but, it turned out really well. We took an Uber from town ($370; 40 minutes). The first thing we did was have breakfast. It was delicious and service was very good. After that we started exploring on our own. You really have to pay attention! There is so much hiding in plain sight. Who knew there are over 1,200 different orchids in Mexico? Beautiful! We spent 2 1/2 hours enjoying the sights. We had no problem with mosquitoes but, it was very warm and water is a necessity. There is no cellular service there but, they do have internet. If you hadn’t made previous arrangements (such as an Uber), you have two options for returning to town… a taxi ($650) or a bus ($50). As a non-gardener, I am glad I went. It was a great experience!

The skip the line ticket was so easy! We loved the gardens and the restaurant was excellent. Only downside is accessibility. I had a broken foot and in a boot. I brought a knee scooter that could not be used. The cobblestones and uneven pavement made it so difficult. I wish they had wheelchairs to rent, though i am not sure if that would work. I highly reccomend the garden, but, if you have mobility problems enjoy the lovely benchs.

My daughter and I took many pictures that do not do this place justice. The gardens were amazing and The Restaurant was very good. The drive to get there was long and winding, we almost got car sick. My recommendation would be to take a taxi that doesn't have a stick shift for a smoother ride. We had that coming back down.

The botanical gardens are lovely with a nice mix of curated garden area and done hiking trails. Be sure to wear shoes you're comfortable walking trails and outdoor stairs in. The restaurant here is very good. I had the tuna poke bowl. If you're taking the bus from downtown PV expect it to take about an hour to get to the gardens.

Highly recommended! This is an exceptional garden, the Orchids are amazing and lunch is a must do at the restaurant. One of the best botanical gardens I have been to.

The botanical gardens were the highlight of our trip. Extensive hiking trails (moderate to intense), great for birding & taking in the best natural beauty in the PV area. A bit of a drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta but more than worth it. The garden will help you arrange a taxi out if needed but call in advance to confirm. Bring bug spray & sunblock. There’s a river that you can hike down & wade in. The restaurant has amazing food, views & music. Gift shop has many good finds & plants available for purchase.

We enjoyed our visit very much! Made reservations at their office in Zona Romantica with a volunteer who was very helpful and accommodating. The van picked us (and several others) up at the office. We were met at the garden upon arrival, quickly checked in, and were on our way. We enjoyed the main exhibits along the central roadway and then made our way across the Bridge of Dreams to the chapel. Then Jorge took great care of us during lunch on first floor of the main building. Gift shop is full of very high quality items. My only reason for “4 stars” rather than “5 stars” is the quality of the disabled accessibility, especially around the chapel. Some ramps are steep, narrow, and lack enough space to turn at the end. I’m sure improvements will be made as time goes on. All staff were extremely helpful and kind—we appreciated them! We will return every time we visit Puerto Vallarta!

Gardens themselves where great. The "Skip the Line" upcharge was completerly unneccessary; there were maybe 5 people at the place when we arrived 45 minutes after it was open. Save yourself a few dollars and buy your ticket online at the PVBG website (300 Pesos).

This garden is beautiful! Highly recommended. We did not go as a tour, just on our own so we could stay as long as we wanted. There are lots of trails to follow, many going up and down steep grades (you need to be rather fit for some of these trails) but you don't have to go on the trails if you don't want to. There are many beautiful gardens to see no matter your fitness level. The restaurant has AMAZING food and drink too. Highly recommend the fish tacos but everything was very tasty. The staff at the gardens and restaurant were very nice. Highly recommended going either as a tour or on your own.

Your entry pass allows 2 visits within same week. If you love beautiful flowers and walking/hiking, you could do 2 days. There’s many trails and a lovely restaurant with hummingbird feeders. There’s a river down below the restaurant (rio trail), you could dip in there to cool off if time permits. I’d plan a full day! There’s certain times of year they are closed on Monday’s so be aware if that if I’m off season.

I'm assuming the question is what is the bus rate to the gardens. I can't answer that as we booked a tour which included pick up by their very nice van from our hotel, guided tour and lunch, all of which were fabulous. I have been twice before, unguided, and this was well worth every penny.

How transportation from the cruise ship work? How long is the trip there?

The Vallarta Botanical Garden is offering his new BOTANICAL DELIGHTS Tour & Culinary Adventure. The garden can pass directly to Marina Vallarta where the cruise ship arrives to pick you up, the only thing you need to do is to book your tour at TripAdvisor and send a mail to the garden (search mail at their web site) requesting your pick up at Marina Vallarta, with the time of arrival and departure of the ship. I hope this info helps you.

Do you have to pre buy tickets or can you purchase at the door
Hi,
You can buy the general ticket entrance at the gates of the Botanical Garden. If you want to book a tour, you have to do it in avance.

Don’t miss eating there. It’s great. People rave about the pizza. That’s what we had. Prices didn’t seem much different than in the city. It’s adining experience not to be missed, and the views are fabulous. Don’t miss the gift shop!

There is a large flat area that has gorgeous flowers and landscaping, with several signature attractions - a display of Mexico's endemic orchids, for example. The restaurant has tables on the ground level. Otherwise either stairs or steep climbs get you to the river or hillsides.
