My husband and I drove by the Elvis Presley and James Burton statues in front of the Stage of the Stars Music Museum. The statues are a few feet apart and located a few blocks from downtown. I did not like the area of town. There were many homeless people in the area including a group of ten that gave us some bad faces. I took a couple pictures of the statues and we got out of there. I rated poor because of the area of town, otherwise, average.

Since it wasn’t far from other places we visited, we stopped by to see the Elvis statue and take a few photos. Called Rockin’ Elvis, this life-size bronze commemorates The King’s October 1954 performance at the Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium for the Louisiana Hayride radio program. It was one of his early public performances, and his considered his first big break, so 50 years later they placed a statue here. In the statue, young Elvis stands on a pink granite pedestal, guitar slung around his neck, one hand grabbing a microphone, his motion frozen mid-pelvis thrust. A plaque on the pedestal explains the Elvis connection to this place, and there’s a photo of young girls in the audience, screaming. There’s also a statue of lead guitarist James Burton from Shreveport, who not only performed with Elvis, but who went on to be an in-demand studio musician for many other artists. We weren’t aware of a “A Stage of the Stars Music Museum” museum here, as it didn’t turn up in any of the sites, brochures, or listings I looked at in researching our trip, and there were no signs about it that we noticed on-site. Across from the Elvis statute is a street sign that says 700 Elvis Presley Lane with the King’s likeness, and a small icon of a guitar below it. Across the street another direction is the Oakland Cemetery, which is not only a historic and reportedly haunted place, but was also a filming location for several films including Kevin Costner’s “Mr. Brooks.” There’s a sign about it near the cemetery entrance.

I've been wanting to see this for some time...even went there before and completely missed the statues of Elvis and James Burton (he was the geeky guy hanging around with Ricky on the Ozzie and Harriett TV show and played lead in his band...among other things.). The statues are well done and about a block off Texas Ave. in front of Municipal Auditorium. The rumor is that there is a museum connected with it, but I couldn't discern there being one. Across the street is James Burton's studio (as seen on American Pickers) and if you're the stalker type you can sit and wait for a formerly geeky looking older gentleman to come out and you just may get to speak to James himself. Your time might be better served driving west on Texas Ave. and having a schooner and a shrimp buster at Herby K's.

The place was closed with a note to go elsewhere for tickets. Two statues outside. Don’t bother wasting your time!

The Location of this Stage of the Stars Music Museum is inside the building of Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. The auditorium was closed and outside there was no information at all about this museum. The only ones you can see is the statue of Elvis Presley and James Burton, outside the building, and street name "Elvis Presley Av.700"
The building self is beautiful to see.

We visited on cold rainy day and was a amazed at what we saw. This at one time was the real Cradle of the Stars! Elvis started here, as did Slim Whitman, Johnny Cash, Red Sovine, and many more! There is a stature of Elvis out front as well as his lead guitarest James Burton who is also from Shreveport. The
building has been completely updated and has diaramas of a lot of the stars who performed there. A great place to take out of town guest.

Forget the published opening and closing times - they are never open. No signs on the door - no information - not sure why this one is even listed
