We’ve passed this fabulous church many many times , so thought it only right to pop in, and we were so glad we did.

Nestled in the centre of the village, this wonderful church stands so proud.
It’s grounds are immaculate and the same can be said for the glorious inside as well.

We popped in to see the Christmas tree festival and received the warm welcome we might expect from such a lovely community church. It is such a lovely church to visit

Absolutely amazing. What a fantastic set of murals in this quaint little church which just looks like any other church until you get inside. These murals are unbelievable how they have been done and is a must see.

I went with my friend to his job in Kirton-in-Lindsay while on holiday in the East Midlands of UK. We went to Clayworth where we stopped at the 12th century St. Peter’s Church to look at the Traquair murals. Part of the church was painted by Phoebe Anna Traquair (1852 – 1936). This is the largest single work of art in east England. We bought postcards using the honesty box at the door. We admired the stained glass windows and furnishings. It is really worth a visit and breathtaking to see the murals.
P.S. In Hibaldstow there was a field of woolly long horned cows where we stopped for photos. What a beautiful sight.

Well signposted. Well worth a visit the paintings are really beautiful. Could easily be tied into a trip to the Gainsborough Old Hall.

We found this church after following the brown tourist signs, what a find a beautiful church & the Traquair murals are fantastic. Well worth a visit.

Worth a visit if you are a real fan of Traquair's paintings or enjoy looking at Medieval village churches and are passing nearby. The church is small and has some information about Traquair. The murals have had some sympathetic restoration. They are colourful and may seem out of character with what we have come to expect church interiors are supposed to look like. But of course, church walls used to be colourfully painted before the Reformation.

Although the beautiful Traquair Murals are not that old, early 20th Century, they do offer an insight into just how colourful English Churches would have been, pre Reformation, when Murals were a regular feature to help the illiterate understand the teachings of the church. These are beautiful and precious examples of a time long ago.
The church also has a very lovely plasterwork Tudor tomb of Sir Humphrey Fitzwilliam, some fine memorials and lovely stained glass.
The church has a very well maintained loo inside for visitors, and raises funds through book sales.
