We happened upon the River Walk when we were looking for parking for a local restaurant in Brewer. We walked the entire length of the walkway, took about 30 minutes in all, but the scenery was very nice. Plenty of flowers blooming in the early September sun, the river was clean and the waterfowl were plentiful. We walked down some stone steps to the kayak launch and were greeted by no less than a dozen ducks, who are clearly used to people by now, and said hello before heading back up to traverse the rest of the path. You get to see across the Penobscot into the waterfront area of Bangor, as well as the "Children's Garden," the steeples of the churches in Bangor, the bridges over the Penobscot, and some of the local businesses over in Brewer.

Looked like a nice walk along the river. Brick walkway for part with a nice grass area for activities. Read one review about homeless and have to agree. Quite a few, but nobody bothered us. Just too bad. There were even tents along the walkway. Has a big potential to be a great place to walk.

The walk is very short and there were many homeless people on benches and wall along the walkway. While no one solicited anything, it was not a friendly environment. The walkway also next to a Brewery Restaurant where 100+ people were playing cornhole and drinking with no one wearing masks with Maine's infection rate increasing.

While in Bangor, we decided to take a stroll along the beautiful Penobscot River Walkway before heading for home. I've read about it in DownEast magazine. It's so peaceful ... we were there on an autumn day; and in spite of it being chilly, there were many dog-walkers and "seniors" taking advantage of the day. A nice photo-op walk.

What a great place to get your exercise in. All hot-topped and well taken care of. Place to sit and rest to to just watch the river. The town of Brewer should be very proud of their efforts.

Short walk, paved, ends abruptly in a no trespassing notice which pushes you under a bridge onto the main road past the Paul Bunyan statue and casino. There was some unpleasant individuals who were sitting on the benches swearing at passers by, half way along there was a dealer at work. Not a place I'd want my daughter to go alone. However the views on a sunny fall day are spectacular.

We are lucky to have this walkway at our 24-hour access/convenience. It's nicely laid out and maintained and offers peaceful and scenic minutes or hours. Mostly flat, I've seen walkers, runners, rollerbladers, skateboarders, and lots of dogs enjoying the walkway.

A disability will not prohibit you. There are two restaurants right by the walkway and one of them has a few spaces for handicap parking with a sloped, paved walkway allowing for the disabled to have access to the walkway.
