This is a striking 1845 Gothic Revival church. Some people claim to have holy visions in churches, but I read that when Harriet Beecher Stowe attended the church in 1851 she had a vision of a beaten slave, which inspired her to write Uncle Tom's Cabin.

This church is historic, beautiful and fulfilling its mission.
Located on a small parcel of real estate at the local roundabout, we were escorted inside by the chief usher who clearly knew and took pride in every aspect of the church.
Dating back hundreds of years, two of its most famous patrons had significant roles in the Civil War. Harriet Beecher Stowe was author of Uncle Toms Cabin. And Grants general who accepted the surrender of Confederate officers with dignity and respect was the other.
The interior of the church is simple but beautiful. The banner on the outside says it’s all: from founding to present, this edifice is part of making life better for all God’s creation.

LOVE this church, whether it's to sit in a pew formerly occupied by Harriet Beecher Stowe or to attend an organ concert or a Summer Bowdoin College Music Festival Event. Just a TRUE historical landmark which displays Maine-pride and caring.

Very beautiful church. Just g to the rectory and they will open the church up for you and share information about the history and architecture. Beautiful woodwork.

This is a landmark in Brunswick and the house of worship for several of America's literary leaders like Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Harriet Beecher Stowe. The church sanctuary and easily identifiable tower steeple are community treasures, located adjacent to the historic Bowdoin College.

I visited this church to hear the Oratorio Chorale and was not disappointed. The church has beautiful old style pews that are beautifully kept. The entire inside is restored and even if not going to hear any kind of musical or church service, the church is worth visiting just to see the beauty of the inside. I love to go here for musicals, the acoustics are very good. Well worth a visit.

My son just recently got married at the church and everyone there was beyond nice and helpful. Pastor Jeff did an exceptional job with the kids vows. Julia was so helpful as the wedding coordinator. The church is so full of history and just beautiful. The kids were not members of the church but on their special day - everyone at the church made the fell as though the were.

We attended a very pleasant wedding here. The church itself is somewhat unusual with the interior support structure but the rest is what we have seen in New England churches

We make a point to attend church services in this historic Congregational church in Brunswick during our summer visits to Maine. The architecture alone is a good reason to visit with exposed curved wood arches supporting the roof and oak woodwork throughout. And, be sure to take advantage of Tuesday noontime organ concerts in July and August. The last about an hour with their organist and visiting organists.
