We spent an afternoon at Bowdoin College. The art museum had several interesting exhibits and older paintings in its permanent collection, although some of the famous artists in the collection were not on display. We also walked around the campus on a warm October day. The word "idyllic" (already used by another reviewer) came to mind.

Overrated. Campus is kind of disjointed and not that aesthetically special. The new building under construction doesn’t fit with the buildings around it. The fully green academic building in the corner of campus is impressive in its design albeit boring to look at

I was so disappointed after traveling across the country to Maine and Brunswick itself that we weren't allowed in any buildings, not even the Library. We did the walking tour but saw only buildings from the outside.

My review is not on the academics, but the campus although I believe the University succeeds in both. The campus is a beautiful self contained area just outside the town of Brunswick. You will find tree lined grassy areas with a number of architecturally interesting buildings. While Maine is chilly in the winter, the campus provides a great setting for studying.

Stopped by on a Sunday Morning and wandered across the old, Ivy league feeling campus. Almost every student smiled and said hi - so we felt welcomed and at home - even though we don't "go" here. We walked through the Student union which is a converted gymnasium -- now decorated with cool art, comfy sofas and a spiral walk to the third floor where there are many cozy hang out/study spaces. Felt like the Guggenheim museum :) There is also an inviting museum and countless old trees with outstretched arms waiting to greet you too.

We visited the art museum here on Maine Street, but afterwards treated ourselves to a walking tour of this beautiful campus. There are magnificent buildings from many different eras of the university's history. It was established in 1794 and has many, many famous alumni authors, poets, a president and other historical figures. If you have any interest in architecture or history it is worth a self guided tour around campus. A short walk takes you into the downtown area of Brunswick where there are shops and restaurants galore. It also has retained a fair amount of its turn of the last century historical buildings. There is free parking along Maine Street (2 H limit), which makes the visit easier than on other campuses.

This esteemed liberal arts college chartered in 1794 has, from a visitor's viewpoint, beautiful architecture, renowned art musem, and an interesting arctic museum, Alumni include Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wardsworth Longfellow, US President Franklin Pierce, and Netflix founder Reed Hastings!

They have a great summer theater. That alone is worth the trip. It has a great art museum, and a nice chapel, and a handful of great buildings with history
