This summer, there are handpainted Adirondack chairs placed at several spots on the sidewalks lining Maine Street. It's a downtown Adirondack chair project called 'Have a Seat!' to create a welcoming environment for tourists and residents. The chairs are painted in bold or pastel colors with beautiful designs by local artists and are scattered throughout downtown in pairs. They're chained to lightpoles, etc. so that no one gets 'carried away' and carries them off during the night.

I love coming to Maine Street Brunswick to browse the small businesses and eat in the interesting restaurants. You can eat sushi, have amazing homemade Gelato, hang out in a coffee shop, go to a sports bar and buy baked goods to take home. It almost makes me wish my son went to Bowdoin and not Bates (haha just kidding!) As you drive down Route 1 toward Boothbay Harbor make sure you take the detour!

We've been here several times. It's a wide, long street, with lots to do. Bowdoin College is at one end and a large antique market (Cabot Mill Antiques) is at the other. In between, there's a plethora of shops, restaurants, delis, pubs, bakeries, a museum, and the usual stuff (banks, churches, post office, etc.). There's also Park Row that's part of the Federal Street Historic District and has beautiful Federal, Greek Revival and Colonial Revival homes, including the residence of a nationally-famous author. The small park is a great place to be - it has several food trucks and hosts a few yearly art festivals. There's a lot of traffic, so it's not a good idea to jaywalk on this street. Parking can be found on side streets if no Maine Street are available, but we've never had a problem.

Nice street to walk up and down with multiple stores, restaurants and coffee shops. Charming brick sidewalks. We walked from our hotel, but there appeared to be plenty of parking.

We have been going to Maine for over 35 years as a couple and as children before that and we have never gotten off of Route 1 and gone into Brunswick. We were traveling with another couple and used Brunswick as our hub for three days. This allowed us to make several trips into town and we were able to explore the shops, restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops along with attractions like Bowdoin College, museums and historic homes and neighborhoods. Brunswick is rich in all of these and Maine Street is the main street where many can be found. I will review each attraction we visited separately, but needless to say, it is a charming town with much to offer and therefore a wonderful destination. We cannot believe we had not explore Brunswick before this. We are looking forward to returning.

No particular goal in mind; just walking with my sweetheart, window shopping, then some real shopping shopping, stopped into one place for a cold craft beer, then another for lunch. What a perfect place to vacation!

New England towns have a special charm all their own. Brunswick is no different in that regard. It’s a pleasant walk down the boulevard with shops and restaurants lining the street. There’s a park to rest or contemplate or eat a lobster roll.

Maine Street is a mixed bag of eclectic shops and restaurants, very historic homes and museums like the Joshua Chamberlain House and the Skolfield-Whittier House, art galleries, bakeries, a park, the usual banks, pharmacies and other amenities, a tiny mall, and of course Bowdoin College. It's a pleasant and interesting way to spend a day or two. The city also has some nice inns within walking distance of Maine Street. The Friday I went, they had a Farmers Market along Park Row.

I just love strolling down Maine Street in downtown Brunswick.
It reminds me of my hometown in RI. They are many shops, I am know that there were at least 2 gallaries there. Of course, with
so many shops closing today, I am not certain if there are any remaining there. You would enjoy the area very much. Good luck and God Bless. Ken

Did you get to see the t-shirt stencilers; at; "Cool As A Moose" store (on Maine St.)? where we can watch; through a glass window; "All" the "Cool As a Moose; t-shirts; being created?? Did you also go to: "Frosties Donuts"; for the best thing; this side of "Cafe Du Monde" in New Orleans?????? And; did you check out; The Frontier Cafe, or Richards Restaurant, or, or, or,.......(you obviously did not check out; "my" recomandations'. But; I'm "just" me! A no-body; who knows nothing! (ha! if you only knew!) Obviously; ....you were never a crow!; in any of your past lives! ........Brunswick, Maine is a very well kept secretell; Everyone! ~xoxo!~
