Bel sentiero che porta fino all’omonimo lago. Il sentiero è tenuto bene, con alcuni tratti dove devi camminare su assi di legno per non rovinare il sottobosco… purtroppo non siamo riusciti a vedere nemmeno un’alce!

Hotel was clean and comfortable. WIFI worked well. Beautiful trail up Little Moose Mountain right at the end of the parking lot. Great view of the lake.

Little Moose Mountain Trail was an excellent trail that we wished we had discovered earlier. The trail head is about 2 to 3 miles down a dirt road, but worth all the trouble. Once you start, the trail is blazed property, and well maintained. Bravo!

This is a great hike in the fall. Although I would rate the climb as moderate-strenuous. There is an abandoned ranger house partway up. You get to two spots with a great view. The first one is approximately 1/2 hour from the summit. Be advised to keep an eye on the time of day for turning around and getting back to the car. The trail head sign on the way back is easily missed if it is getting dark. We had to do a small search and rescue of a guy who was off trail and shouting for help.

My wife and I hiked the trails here in late September, and found them to be well maintained and easy to do, by Maine trail standards. This has a gradual but steep down hill to start so after you have looped the Big and Little Moose ponds, you will be going back up, however this is one of the easier hikes in the area.
