Nice late summer/early fall flowers, lots of happy ducks (surprised they're still hanging around, but it's been warmer than usual), calm pond, and the gazebo still looks great.

Just went to the annual art fair in the park and found that the park looks a lot nicer in summer than it did during the cold, rainy spring. The lilypads in the pond are very picturesque and the flowers look great, especially the corner enclosed granite area with wooden benches and a beautiful flower arrangement. The white gazebo is quintessential New England. Lots of cute brown ducks, which the kiddies love.

While visiting friends in South Portland, we stopped by Mill Creek Park in the Knightville neighborhood on a trek along the Greenbelt Walkway which is used more as a bicycle path.
Admission is free.
It was a good-sized park of about 10 acres. It featured a gazebo and a pond with a jet d’eau in the middle.
There were about 100 Canada geese enjoying the pond, lawns, and the small garden.
The park is the setting for summer concerts and other events. The grass was flattened in several places so it was obvious that people had been sitting on blankets on the lawn for something that had gone on there.
We enjoyed sitting on a couple of park benches fir awhile.
The City of South Portland requests that visitors not feed any of the wildlife in the park.
We rate Mill Creek Park at 4.50.
The Mill Creek Shopping Plaza is across the street.

It's odd to see this little tranquil park with ducks and geese near one of S. Portland's busiest intersections. It's nice and a good spot to rest, eat lunch or ice cream, feed the fowl, but nothing out of the ordinary.

The pond is usually full of ducks and some geese...great for feeding on a Saturday morning. Wednesdays, during the summer, there are concerts in the park. It is a lovely "green space" in a busy part of South Portland.

Really great park, there are ducks and birds everywhere.
Across the street is a Dollar Store® , I purchased a big can of oats (dry oatmeal) to feed the ducks for $1. The can lasted all of 10 minutes and it was gone. I have never fed ducks or lounged at a pond before, it was a really great experience.
There are benches and picnic tables threw out the small park.
I would give Mill Creek Park five stars but it seems that the park is where teenagers walk to and from high school. Five teenage boys showed up before I left and began throwing rocks at the ducks and continuously tried to run over the baby ducks with their bicycles. I called South Portland Police department but they seemed irritated that I would call about animal abuse. As I gave a description of the teenagers to the dispatch, the boys got on their bikes and left the park.

This is a pleasant city park, but nothing to go out of your way to see. At Christmas, the lights are great. Also, in the Winter, skating on the pond is fun.
But, I wouldn't go way out of my way to see this park. It is pleasant, but modest.

Spring is great for those Prom pictures. The backdrops are perfect. I love walking across the street from work, sitting under a shady tree for 30 minutes to recharge, then head back into work. free concerts in the park in the Summer too. I see kids feeding the ducks. dogs going for a walk, bikers on the Greenbelt path. Picnics, even someone practicing fly fishing. Perfect park and lots of benches all around the pond

It might be surrounded on all sides by roads, but it's a lovely little green space that's actually bigger than you think. In the summer the many trees offer cool shade, and the pond always has ducks that are entertaining to watch. Bring a picnic and hang out for a while or take a breather during a bike ride along the nearby path. Winter is also a great time to visit, especially if the pond is frozen and you like to ice skate.

I don't think the park has its own parking lot, but there may be handicap parking spots along the streets that surround the park. I checked their website and they don't mention parking at all.
