no pop ups allowed which is nice. Very friendly. Does get pretty packed, but never had a bad experience.

Great beach especially for small children. Nice flat beach so when the tide comes in it is still very safe for children. Rocks along the edge for the littles to look for clams and other sea creatures in the tide pools .Stayed at the Union Bluff House and it is right outside your door.

Go to the Union Bluff Pub and you can sit in lawn chairs admiring the beach. Get your drink at the hotel and carry it across the street and sit in the sun on the lawn and REST!!!!

Smaller beach, but excellent to come by in the Fall. Ecspecially during high seas. Many places on the sea coast route for great views! Nice clean newer public bathrooms available.

Short Sands is such a neat spot, right in downtown and with good parking nearby. The beach itself is small but you can walk quite a ways out and the water isn't deep. On this beautiful July day the water was tolerable. I don't really like the arcade right there, but there is a timeless feeling to York Short Sands. It is like stepping back in time to my teen years, there has been little change to the beach. Bring drinks and snacks, and don't forget to visit Goldenrod for the salt water taffy.

Two friends sharing a nice hot day at the beach. Nice breeze to cool us, but it sent our cheap umbrella flying and turning inside out. Invest in a better umbrellas or a sturdy beach tent. I will. 5 stars because it was not the beach's fault. It was mine. Great place for families, seniors. teens and adults. Sand is HOT HOT HOT! Wear beach shoes. Flip flops not the best choice. Barefoot - you'll be sorry! Children need to be wearing shoes, hats, and other protective clothing. Food, drinks, arcade and shops right there. Decent metered parking. Could use more handicapped spots. On a really hot day, bring lots of cold beverages unless you want to keep walking around buying them. Nice crowd of people there. No outrageous behavior. Clean restrooms. Be careful of drop off at beach depending on the tide. Have been many times. Took my children there years ago. Will continue to visit. Am in my mid 70's.

Short Sands Beach has Sands by the Sea Motel right in town. Union Bluff is nice in the newer building but a bit pricey.

I haven't been yet this year but I heard that parking has gone up to 25cents for 7min. Is this true? I also can't remember but is there lots to park in where you pay one price for the day? I know Long Sands has them but my kids love the playground at Short Sands.

It's hard to call the population during the summer. You could always go to the Union Bluff that is on the ocean . Ask to use their property (lawn) overlooking ocean. GoodLuck
Also, you could go to Oqunqit Marginal Way. A walk ( one mile) along the ocean . There is some exquisite scenery. It is a little hilly ( part of walk) benches along the way.
