I walk this trail often. In the summer it is home to osprey, mallards, the occasional great blue heron and a variety of smaller birds, particularly red-winged blackbirds. I prefer it in the winter, when long-tailed ducks and buffleheads appear, and when it is less humid, but it is a nice walk anytime.

So the trail is very flat and paved the entire way. It splits at the half way point so you will need to back track to walk both sections. There are wooded areas that you walk through, however the mosquitos were really bad. I would difinitly suggest putting on some bug spray to save your yourself from being eaten alive. I saw several small dirt paths off of the trail, however due to the mosquitos, we did not attempt to try them. Nice relaxing walk and to stop and view the wetlands and wildlife.

Nice easy trail for all ages and dogs as well. At one point it forks, both trails dead end, so you need to double back.There are benches along the way if you want to sit and take in the views.It is a little difficult to find. Park in the Tot Lot, if facing the playground turn around,you will see a white fence,go down steps so you are on the other side of fence and turn right.After a few minutes you will see the sign for trail and boardwalk.

I have loved this trail since it opened. It's perfect for a walk or run - with or without your four-legged friends - almost any time of year. You get beautiful views, close-ups with amazing creatures like eagles and ospreys, and a healthy dose of sunshine. It's a long enough trail that you can spend plenty of time out there, but not so long that families with young kids can't enjoy. I've always felt relatively safe even alone, and generally cross paths with at least a handful of friendly folks.

My husband and I took this walk while visiting the area. It was beautiful. You can experience many aspects of MD nature. Crab boats, then, many areas of wildlife, trees, fish, etc. we enjoyed our post brunch walk.

We love this trail. Beautiful scenic views. However, most of the parking is reserved for the Rod and Reel since they are renovating their lot. The other parking lot is specifically for the Water Park and boats. We couldn’t figure out where those going on the trail are supposed to park 🤷🏽♀️

I frequently walk this trail by myself and with my family. There is lots to see throughout the walk including: lots of wildlife, fishing boats, the old railroad bed, the marshes, etc. I have done lots of photography there.

1+ mile walk one way, walking along the old Railroad path that came from Washington DC. Starts at the water park and dead ends where you can see the old railroad posts and raised bed. If you're lucky you'll see a bald eagle or osprey!

I took my little fold-up bike from one end to the other and off the extensions. A pleasant little ride. Probably two miles with extensions Stopped at the lookouts.

Yes, I saw people with dogs on trail. And there are 'pickup' bag stations.

Yes, but really only near the end of the trail - where there is an overlook platform/observation deck looking over Fishing Creek. May want to bring a flashlight with you though as it is about a mile and a half to 2 miles to the observation deck and you may be walking back in dim light
