“We stayed AT the lighthhouse keepers house!”

我们在这里住了一个星期和家人一起住在经过整修的酒店灯塔。虽然我们有游客参观灯塔隔壁一天三个小时,其余时间都是很大很大的庭院,海滩,灯塔和完全都要感谢我们的高安全栅栏。一个很棒的住在一个令人惊叹的位置。

And end of an era

Well maintained property to show visitors how life was for lighthouse keepers. Actual lighthouse was not open for tours. Keeper cottage rented out for vacationers. Visitor center docent was very well versed for questions.

Cove Point Lighthouse and Airbnb Keepers House

the lighthouse is not available to walking up and the grounds are only open three days a week (Wednesday/Saturday and Sunday) from 1 PM to 4 PM. There is a visitor center. The most popular attraction is the Keeps House which is a private AirBnB and can be booked solidly sometimes up a year in advance - house has two sides - A & B. When in use in history the A side was for the Keeper and B side for the Assistant. If you are lucky enough to secure a stay at the house it retains its historic nature while having the modern conveniences like TV and wifi and modern kitchen appliances. The views from the bedrooms of the Bay are amazing. Just be forewarned that walking more than about 500 yards north on the beach near the jetties you will be intercepted by security for Cove Point LP gas as that is their property although poorly marked.

Lovely complex - a lighthouse and a keeper's house.

The lighthouse keeper's house is apparently being rented. Visiting the spot which is truly lovely makes you sigh - "well, someday". It must be great relaxing place for a weekend getaway.

Better than Expected!

What a nice surprise! We rented one half of the light house keeper's home. Though original, it is thoroughly updated with bathrooms on each floor, air conditioning, and modern kitchen. When rented, the property is closed to visitors. We had easy access to the beach and spent much time searching and finding sharks teeth. Shopping for food and necessities was a short, quick drive. We visited the Annmarie Sculpture Museum and Marine Museum, each a reasonable drive from the house. We watched tankers dock with the help of tugs offshore. We received quick responses via texts and phone calls for questions while there. We will be booking again.

Worth a Look ...

... IF you can catch when it is open. The hours are sparse, but the lighthouse is very picturesque. It's located at the end of a private beach community, so there is not a lot of traffic.

Airbnb the cottage; you won't be disappointed!

I wanted a unique in-state getaway for our anniversary and this place did not disappoint. We had the duplex cottage to ourselves. The entire area around the lighthouse to ourselves as they are closed for the season. The cottage is well appointed, very comfortable, the decor is interesting and ties into this area superbly. You can sit in the house and listen to the crashing of the waves and just feel the stress leave your body. Definitely coming back here.

Amazing place to stay

This review is specifically for the Keeper's Quarters, which are managed as a short term vacation rental through the Calvert Marine Museum (CMM).
I was looking for a unique stay for my birthday week. During these pandemic times, many usual options are out.
The CMM campus in Solomons was closed for a while but they are gradually reopening. The Cove Point lighthouse grounds are still not open to visitors, and the docent tours have not resumed. But you can actually STAY overnight here, in the Keepers Quarters building that dates from 1826, like the lighthouse itself. Cove Point Light is the oldest continually operating lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay.
The accommodations are a lovely blend of original floors, radiators, architectural features with updated modern amenities.
It is a duplex arrangement, so you can rent one side or both. Each unit has a nice kitchen and living area, two Queen BR, one BR with two twin beds, and a sofa bed downstairs. There is a W/D and a lovely screened porch. We ate dinner on our first night outdoors on the picnic table, to soak up the atmosphere.
This is the perfect, socially-distanced venue for a getaway in 2020. Visiting a lighthouse is always awe-inspiring for me, but being able to actually stay here is amazing.

We love lighthouses

We love to visit lighthouses. We happened upon this one today. While it was closed because of Covid-19, we could see it through the fence. It is a beautiful setting. We will be going back as soon as things open up. I called the phone number on the gate and the lady I talked to was very, very nice. She made us feel like we definitely want to come back. Thanks for being so nice!

We were so excited to see a lighthouse. When we drove down the road it said dead end and we thought it did because the lighthouse was at the end of the road. However. the whole place was closed off and there’s no more admittance. This is sad because it looks very cool.

Beautiful, Historic Lighthouse

The grounds, the lighthouse and the keeper's house are all kept up beautifully. When you drive through the gate it's like being transported to a New England lighthouse! It's also extremely windy as it's on the bay.

You cannot go up the lighthouse, but you can go inside and look up at the interesting spiral staircase.
