Not a bad beach by any means. Clean with plenty of sand and great waves. There were a lot of people there, which was a little bit annoying, but still a great time.

We just love Ocean City. It is our favorite vacation spot in the world. Nice beaches, fun spots to play, lots of restaurants that serve blue crab, Nearby Ocean Downs with trotter races, boardwalk is the best I've ever seen, with shops right there. Clean beach, great sunrises and sunsets, ocean is fun to swim in, beach sand is okay if you're careful. wow. It's all here. Assategue Islnad ponies are also nearby.

Had a great time. We came from KC, via New England towards DC. My son was 14 and had limited time from Cali beaches a couple years before. We just left from Coney Island a couple days before this visit. This had a little of both. Parking was fine, we paid on the south end just to save a headache of trying to find a spot. Walked a bit in the sand with 51 year old wife and 70's mother in law to find a good spot. Found a spot north of the pier without struggle. The waves were not as good as southern cali, but big enough to have fun to boogie board. The waves were close which was awesome so we didn't have to wade 1/4 mile out to find one. But then again, you couldn't ride it long. Good and bad but was nice. The boardwalk had a carnival feel, which I think was good....but limited rides on the southside of the boardwalk. People complain about certain people dressed or acting a certain way. I felt it was good balance for entertainment without going overboard with indecency. People were nice. I liked this place and would come back for sure.

The beach itself is very nice, large and there is plenty of space. The Atlantic is not for leisurely swimming or splashing with children like in the Mediterranean. The swell and currents strong (danger to life).
Sunbeds, umbrellas and toilets, showers are not available as on the Mediterranean. There is a completely different beach culture, which is not meant negatively, you just have to be aware of it.
However, the hotels, restaurants, fast food and cafes are completely overpriced and consistently poor quality - especially compared to New York City, Washington DC or Buffalo.
For good food you have to get in the car and drive 20 minutes. Get out of OC.
Ocean City is like another time, has something of Lignano 30 years ago.
Beautiful is Assatague Island - not as a booked excursion but when you go there yourself. Beach, campfire, camping - everything possible.

We had a great time. We went during the very last week of August. Right after most of the kids returned to school and right before the Labor day holiday weekend. There were ENOUGH people. Not too many & not too few.

The other reviews here sounds like a bunch of Karens and Kens crying about young people. Im middle aged and I do appreciate a quiet family friendly beach. And OC is just that. To all the other comments below, stop being closed minded. Look at whats in front of you. These are nice family friendly folks. I run up and down the boardwalk everyday covering 8-15 miles and yes there are questionable people here and there but cops are out, and most are just families enjoying themselves.

I would give them 0 stars if possible. The place they rented us was unsafe. We had to call for maintenance on 3 of the days were there. It was rundown and in bad need of repair. The fridge did not work. The microwave would trip the breaker for the fridge. The vertical blinds barely worked. The sliding glass door to the ocean had no lock. Also, on that sliding glass door the glass separated from the frame. I was holding the glass and the frame was a few inches from it. They came the next day and re-taped it. The wood stairs had carpet tiles glued to them. Half were missing and several slipped while walking on them. I was told it was an owner problem. The washer dryer carpet was wet from a leak. Many light bulbs were burned out and there were none in the place to replace them. The rooftop deck was in need or refinishing/staining. Also the wood storm shutters were laying on that deck falling apart. The A/C was leaking on the third floor when we arrived. The
A/C repair people came our last day. Took out the filter (was the worst i have ever seen). All the vents were covered in dust.

We are from NJ. All beaches except wildwood charge daily beach badges. All parking in a meter unless your a few blocks from attractions.
I loved easy free parking. The beach was nice. They had rental stuff if needed. We always bring our own. We brought a cooler. A lot of people use carts. Probably a good idea. We could have used the one at our rental.
It was my wife and I and 23 yo daughter. The water on the east coast is chilly this year. We weren’t in the water everyday. I did mess up and have a few sunburn spots. The water was nice. The beach was nice and no rude people.

It's a great place to spend a sunny day at the beach! I visited OCMD together with some friends and we had a great time here at the beach. Its near the boardwalk too!

My family of 5 (husband, myself and 3 teenage girls) are planning a trip to Washington DC mid to end July (dates tbd). My girls want to see the ocean while we are so close to the coast. We plan to stay in Bethesda and rent a car to drive to the beach. I don’t see us laying on the beach all day, but maybe a couple hours and then hit the boardwalk. My questions are: 1) is a day trip enough? 2) I am concerned about traffic, what is the best route? 3) what is parking like? 4) are there other beaches that are just as nice, but maybe less busy with tourists? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!

We always stay in Bethany Beach in the middle of July, we like the less crowded beaches during the day. We drive back and forth to OC boardwalk for afternoon and evening fun. I think it’s about 17 miles which to us is no big deal since there’s so much to enjoy along the way. There is a little bit of traffic at those times when getting closer to the boardwalk but not too bad and I never had any problems finding a pay lot closer to the inlet side of the boardwalk. Been staying there all my life and love it.

How is it visiting late March to early April as far as temperature and crowds. Looking for a quiet get away for our spring break. We dont need Florida weather. Just a good view, place to visit with dog and 2 teens.

September is the off season and the best time to go.
The water is still warm and the kids are in school. You have to call around to see when off season starts.
