Stopped by the Purple Moose at 2pm on Saturday during bike fest. Keep in mind, this event's tickets have gone up every year since it started from a beginning price of about 65 bucks to now over $250 per person this year for mostly rehashed bands seen other years. Couple that with hotels jacking prices up to almost $400/night to punish hard working people trying to come down to, guess what, spend money in your town. So what are they doing? Charging a freaking cover charge at 2 in the afternoon. Gee, wonder if they do that any other week or do they reserve this money grab for Bike Fest weekend? So, on top of premium drink prices, I'm supposed to pay a cover to enter also? No thanks. None of the bars in Blackout Alley charge cover and actually welcome guests looking to spend money in their establishment.

McKenzie is the best bar tender I have experienced in a very long time. All of our rounds were accurate and drink were delicious. We visited 2 out of the 4 nights we were in OCMD. Lively crowds that were fun and very diverse! Music was so fun to dance to and sing along! The security members were alert and responsive to all individuals in the place! I felt totally safe all night with my friend. The female bathrooms are SUPER stocked with tp!

[OC] Ocean City Maryland.! Purple Moose Saloon... Hold on to your credit card receipts. Forced charges and tips from other individuals which you don't know. It was so BAD; they called the Police on us for failure to pay for rounds at the bar. Contacted credit card company, and they blocked the said charges with zero issues. No worries, we made pics of the said officers, with video, which put them in the hall of shame. They pulled off after we requested their badge numbers and location. :-) :-)

The place is too dark for a beach bar and they played Fox News, golf and cooking shows on the TVs? Also the bouncer was rude, my BF is visiting from Germany and when he showed his ID the bouncer said he needed an American drivers license 👎

have been going to OC for many years and never been in the Purple Moose. Finally made an unscheduled stop in late April and it was an interesting experience. Definitely dark and plenty of bar drinking/hanging out space. A very different look to any other Bar I have been in. My wife and I each had an early happy hour beer which between the two of use was $13. Not bad. I was expecting a Rock and Roll feel to the Bar after what I had read, but the music was just loud/horrribe/profanity laden Rap music. Not what I expected. My wife are making another trip down in mid June and plan to stop in again but I hope by then they have actual Rock and Roll music instead of rap. Otherwise, we won't be in and likely won't be back again. My middle of the ground rating has nothing to do with the staff or the surroundings. It was a place I would want to go back to, but that music choice for mid afternoon was just a turn off and dampened my feelings and my ratings. Maybe by my next visit this will change.

We stopped in here for a drink and sat at a table. Nobody served us, even though there were few people in here. The music was loud and the place was rather dark. Looks like it might be a good party place, but not a good place if you want a drink in midday. We left after no service arrived. There was no bartender to go up to either. Maybe it was a bad time.

Visited the Purple Moose in April of 2021. It was close to our hotel so we stopped by for a few drinks. The bartender was friendly and the drinks were solid. A notch pricey at $22 for 2 cocktails.

Our party of 5 was waiting in line for 30-45 min., which is fine. We understand COVID has made for limited capacity. Then, we calmly asked why another party was let in before us. The bouncer was extremely dramatic and disrespectful. The bouncer was the one to make a scene while we were calm, frustrated - yes, but calm. Terrible service from him and he was incredibly immature. Would rather eat glass than have to have another interaction with him.

Are they making the frozen drinks fresh again or is it still coming from machines?

I saw a bunch of swirling frozen drink machines in the back of the bar. so I assume they are still made in bulk and served from a machine.
