We have ridden the ferry on our last visit, so when in Oxford once again in June 2022, we enjoy coming down to the dock where one can go fishing for crabs or just to the parking lot to enjoy the sunset. The ferry had stopped service for the day and was tied up for the night. This has got to be the very best place to see the sunset and maybe talk to some people fishing off the pier. Check it out for sure when in Oxford.

Pay by cash or Venmo. Ferry fits 9 cars at a time, but also you can go on with a bike or by foot. The best deal is if you are going from Bellevue to Oxford by foot because you can do more on that end by foot, than on foot on the Bellevue side. There is a playground for the children, but it seems like you have to drive to see anything on the Bellevue side. Smooth ride for sure.

I have read of this ferry for many years. As a Maryland resident for all of my 70+ years, I was ashamed I had never ventured to Oxford to experience this rare adventure.
The ride is brief and the cost is minimal, but it was a wonderful experience.
Oxford is neat little town, a real throwback in time.

This is a small ferry, holds only 9 cars at capacity. Of course one can also walk on or with a bicycle. The schedule is very regular, up to 4 crossings per hour all day long. However, if there is no one boarding they will sit at port until there is enough cars/people to make it worthwhile. We had a car and inquired. I think our cost was about $20 for car and four people one-way. Very efficient loading and unloading. We love small ferry rides and this is a great way to get to St. Michaels from Oxford instead of driving all the way around the bay.

A friend of mine suggested we take the Ferry ride from Oxford to Bellevue then hit St Michaels. We'd never done that trip and decided to try it. Funny thing, everyone that we met in Easton suggested it as well. It's fun quick ride and it really harkens back to travel for 300+ years. Take the quick drive from Easton to Oxford. Grab a drink in town (there aren't many choices, but each are good) and then hop on the ferry. You'll enjoy the ride, the view and the nostalgia.

We were just out exploring on a rainy Wednesday morning and came upon this ferry. At 9 am, we were the first riders of the day. For $15 we got on board.
A short 10 minute ride across the bay. Smooth, and great views. It allowed us to explore more areas.
We really had no clue where we were, but discovered some new areas to fish and crab.
Nice. Takes cars, bikes and walk ons.

The ferry is a fun, quick and easy way to get between St. Michaels and Oxford. But take your car. Those going from Oxford to St. Michaels will love the easy access to all of the shops, dining and museums just a short drive away. For those going from St. Michaels to Oxford There’s really not much to do or see. We made the mistake of not taking the car and discovered that it’s a lovely neighborhood to take a walk and sit by the water. But otherwise there’s really nothing there other than a cute little antique shop and of course the creamery.

We really enjoyed taking the ferry across with our car, an unexpected surprise, and first time for me with the car. enjoyable and highly recommended. We were driving from St. Michaels to Oxford, and came upon it.

On a trip to the eastern shore, taking this ferry is a great way to ride on the oldest continuously operated ferry in the USA and cover Oxford and St Michaels without having to backtrack too much. It’s easy on easy off and the staff are helpful and friendly.

After an afternoon in St. Michaels, my husband and I took the ferry over to Oxford to our B&B. A short, nice trip. Cost was $12 for car and 1 person plus $3 for a 2nd person, so $15 to get across which I think is a bit steep.

Everyone is talking about the daytripping on this ferry is being an great option. Is that from the Bellvue side to the Oxford side, or the Oxford side to the Bellvue? We are staying in a B&B in Oxford and were wondering if it is worth going to the Bellvue side, as we'd love to do the ferry ride, but not if there is nothing to do and everyone comes to our side for the daytrip.

Not much on the Bellevue side but beautiful scenery, a nice shortcut to St Michaels which is not far from the ferry landing.

The Bellvue side is rural and there is no public transit to St Michaels.
I don't know if there is any St. Michael's-based taxi service, but if there is, I would expect that they would be willing to meet you at the ferry. A quick check on Google just showed Easton-based cab companies. Maybe a business in St Michaels could provide more information.
