Original and Fun Rooms!!!

My wife and I had a great time doing all four rooms here (we’ll be back for their new fifth room). The sets were great with lot to explore and our game master Pia was very supportive and encouraging! We definitely recommend this location for beginner or experienced players.

Great room for Ancient Egypt fans!

Had a lot of fun escaping the Pharoah room with a group of friends! All of the puzzles were detailed, but by no means impossible to figure out (we did escape with only ten seconds to spare!) and I especially loved the spooky tomb surprises waiting in some of the boxes and areas in the room! The staff were friendly and helpful whenever we asked for a clue. I’d definitely come back to try this place out again!

Still Needs Work!

This was our second visit to Rockville Escape Room. When we came the first time, we had problems with miscommunication with our game master that led to delays in solving our puzzles and getting out. We have avoided this place since it ranked low on our list of escape room experiences, but decided to give it another try since it is not too far from our home and we had already done all the available rooms in a nearby escape room that we usually go to.

We should have taken the time to go to another place. We did the Pharoah’s room and this was one of the worst experiences in an escape room we have had. It isn’t just that the room is hard (we have been to challenging rooms before and not gotten out), it is the whole experience. Unlike other places where the game master is really into the game and puzzles and making sure our team was having fun, our experience here was that our game master was totally not into the game or us having a good experience. It didn’t help that some of the puzzles we were struggling with seemed to be messed up so we couldn’t solve them. Partway through we just wanted to leave early since we weren’t having fun and our game master didn’t try to help or encourage us to get through. This has never happened to us before! We left the place with a bad feeling. We were so disappointed in general that we felt the need to redeem ourselves and visited the new escape room in Bethesda where we had an excellent experience and restored our spirit about escape rooms in general. If you are new to escape rooms I would not go here since it may cloud your judgment about escape rooms being fun, and they really are fun depending on the execution of the experience.

Went for a work outing, so much fun!!

The staff was super friendly and the puzzles/riddles were varied and a ton of fun. I've been to quite a few escape rooms and they tend to all be the same types of clues in different formats so I loved that this place really made you think! Great experience!

Excellent set up and friendly staff. Literally only needed a minute or two more. It was fun and thought provoking. We will return and try again.

Downward spiral

Contrary to my previous review in 2018. We reserved the Escape room again as a family member was visiting and what a disappointment. What happened over the last year?
Customer service was terrible. We were a few minutes late ( 5) to be exact, for our assigned booking, I recall last time we visited this place, a couple joined our group a few minutes late without issue.
We called the number advertised on the entrance, no response.
The site mentions that it is suggested to arrive 15mins prior to session starting, it does not say mandatory. We were running a little late from dinner, located around the corner. On arrived we find the doors locked and bolted and no one around. We never received a phone call or text to check on our arrival.
How can people just disappear within 5mins. Not a company rep in sight.

Good day MaidaV_12, Please accept our humble apology, and we would like to make it up to you and your party. I am wondering if you ever received a refund? Either way I would like to update you. We have updated our management team and are re-training staff for excellence in our Customer Service area. We must go by the guideline of the company there is no excuse for this treatment. Yes we request a 15 minute early arrival per check in, so that you may start your experience on time, especially if the same room is booked after your experience. That being said, staff should not leave the location unless there is a no show completely. I am saddened that you never received a response from anyone, but trust me it will not happen again. This I agree was not the case, and we have addressed previous and all concerns. Hopefully we can invite you back to check out our other rooms as well as our soon to be revealed Wizard Room, on us. Terrible customer service

I was making reservations on-line for 2 separate birthday parties for my kids and had some questions that needed to be answered since we were unfamiliar with the Great Escape Room in Rockville. When I called to ask questions, the staff who answered the phone was extremely rude, antagonistic and unhelpful. She was extremely inpatient and raise voices with me during the entire phone call. I asked to speak to the manager, she said she was the Manager, so I decided not to book at this location. Too bad they've lost about $1800 worth of business. Decided to book the location in Georgetown, and they were great.

Terrible escape room visit

For starters, the Pharaoh room really is difficult. But was made more difficult by issues related to the preparation of the room itself. One of the puzzles was not plugged in before entering the room, wasting our time trying to figure something out that wasn’t even on. Puzzles do not connect together to other puzzles leaving you at a dead end not knowing where to go next. It was hard to see because of the dim lighting. We were given lanterns to help with this but they aren’t very helpful when they are dying. When opening one puzzle we were given a UV light, but that also was dying. Before entering the room we were informed that we would receive time updates, which we did not receive. Overall it was not a good experience and would not recommend anyone to come here.

Hello and thank you for your review. I am truly sorry this was your experience at our location. There is no excuse as to why the room was not completely prepared for your groups so I apologize again about this. In regards to the order of the room; there are clues that are very evident as to what correlates with which clue but there are clues that can seem like dead ends in the sense of only having 2 locks remaining what do we do next? That's when most groups recognize they may have missed a clue or overlooked something in the room. Again, I am truly sorry about your experience. Feel free to give us a call and note your review; I'd love to give you a discount on a future room. -Manager-

Took our Money then didn’t show to their business

We booked our escape room the day before and showed up early just as advised on the email. There was no one there we waited for 45 minutes, called, emailed, and texted and received no information. A couple days later a person contacted me about doing it another day. As I wasn’t with my husband I said I wasn’t sure when we could do it, but they said we could call this number back to set up a time. We did and received no response. It has been a month and I am not expecting one anymore. Don’t waste your money or time here when there are better escape rooms in Frederick and Silver Spring.

We had a reservation but when we showed up the facility was closed. The staff member explained they were having technical problems. He asked us to contact them the next day to get a refund of our payment (which is not insubstantial!). We called, but the phone is only a rotor. We sent emails. We sent texts. No response from Rockville Escape Room.
