We booked massages over the phone before we arrived at the Inn for our two night stay.
The "spa" was a hallway upstairs in the main house with a few treatment rooms. Waiting room offered no decor, beverages, music, robes,...nothing you'd expect to see in a spa while waiting for a treatment. Treatment rooms were pleasant and massage was ok. The pool/steam rooms were located downstairs, no where near the treatment areas, and we did not choose to experience either.

We stayed at Five Gables for one night on our weekend visit to St. Michaels. It was a great inn and the spa was just the cherry on top. It's a hidden gem. You wouldn't know that this old house and inn had an indoor pool, sauna, and steam room, as well as massage and facial offerings. It was a great stay and I would definitely return. The price for the offerings was unbeatable in comparison to other local B & Bs and inns.

I went to Five Gables with my husband to have a relaxing tandem massage and wound up realizing what a complete waste of money that portion of our morning turned out to be. We arrived early to be able to change and relax before our massages only to be sat in a very uncomfortable, outdated room without any contact for about 25 minutes. There was no music or tea or water or people anywhere and this is supposed to be an 'Aveda' spa!! When we were finally brought into the room to undress and get onto the cold damp tables the room smelled of must and old oil, which is an extremely unpleasant smell to experience throughout any type of spa treatment. I was rubbed with globs of lotion in no experienced type of way. It was the most unrelaxing and amateur teen type of massage I have ever experienced. My husband was incredibly put off as well as his masseuse kept asking him where he worked out and how his body felt so strong. It was a pretty pathetic esablishment and obviously the owners don't pay much attention to what they put out there compared to what they advertise. The location is great and Ava's Pizza was amazing after the time wasted at the 'spa'.
