Quaint Local Farm
Recently went here for the first time with my Mom, and then returned later with my boyfriend. Only open on weekends, family run and very beautiful. You can take a hayride to pick your own apples, enter a corn maze for $10 and pet the friendly goats. This is a perfect off-the-map place and not commercialized at all! The Bolton Lions Club also sells AMAZING homemade apple cider donuts. Definitely a great way to spend a Fall afternoon.

Low key and tranquil spot for apple picking and tasty apple cider donuts!
2017年10月 • 家庭
We visited Schartner Farms for the first time on Sunday. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we came to Schartner because it had the most reasonable prices for apple picking in the area (only $20 for a half bushel and no extra person charges!) It was a low-key and relaxed destination that was perfect for family apple picking. I went with my mother and my 8 year-old daughter. Most of the people at Schartner were families with younger kids (and sometimes with grandparents). We loved how it wasn't crowded and how the farm hosted the Lions Club to run their apple cider donut booth. The donuts were delectable and just melted in our mouths. We also bought a hot dog from "The Hot Dog Guy." The corn maze looked very impressive, but it was more adventuresome and "amazing" then we were seeking. We will definitely return in future years to buy our apples!

Schartner Farm corn maze is great time for all the family. They have hay rides, Apple and pumpkin picking. There are live bands some weekends. Open weekends September and October

A great place to visit on a fall day

This is a small, quaint hidden gem that is close to the highway and fairly easy to reach. This is a great place for couples as well as families with small children. Typically but not exclusively open during the fall months (check the website for event dates) this is a fun place to come and pick apples, take a tractor driven hay-ride or find your way through a tricky corn maze.

We happened to visit on a late September weekend when the weather was a mixture of sun and clouds - perfect for outdoor activities. The parking area is in a field, immediately off the road. You enter through a modern garage / barn area which has a very small selection of farm produced items (I would like to see their options expanded). You can buy bags of apples here or you can pickup a bag and then board the hayride for a several minute ride into the orchard. There were several goats and a few other small animals available to feed and pet. Some local town organizations also had food stands there so you could buy fresh apple cider donuts and hot dogs.

The ultimate fun here was the large corn maze. You pay a fee to enter the maze ($10) and are provided with a small map of the maze (but it doesnt guarantee success). Average time to navigate the maze is about 40 minutes according to the staff though my wife and I did it in about 20. We went through a second time, got turned around a bit and did find our way out after about 25 minutes, but came across other people who had been in the full 40+ minutes and were still having trouble! A little pricey but a fun time and money well spent!

I just noted on their website that in a couple weeks, they will have an event, cosponsored by a local winery / brewery where as you navigate the maze, you get to sample wine and beer...if you can find the tasting stations! What a creative idea.

This is not a huge attraction but a great way to spend a couple hours of quality family time, about 10 minutes off Route 495 in Bolton MA - just west of Boston.
