One of the worst meals I have ever eaten. The salad was wilted, with brown leaves. The vegetables were smothered in pesto sauce (summer squash) or under-cooked (string beans). The steak was cooled and had minimal flavoring. The side of caramelized onions was overcooked and greasy and severed in a minuscule dish. Service was average.
Chardonnay options in glass were limited to one choice.
All if all, poor quality for the price!!

The team at Gibbet Hill created a fairytale wedding for our daughter. They thought of every detail. They provided an outstanding wedding planner for us who thought of everything. Even the bridal suite was luxurious, complete with cheese plates and champagne awaiting the bride and her attendants!
Our daughter was married up on the Top of the Hill at the castle ruins, which could not have been more magical. The staff at Gibbet Hill transported all our guests up the hill and facilitated the procession seamlessly so that the brides did not see each other until that moment when bride #2 walked down the aisle.
The food was outstanding. Gibbet Hill gave the newlyweds an anniversary gift- their first anniversary dinner is complimentary! I imagine they will want to return every year, if not more often!
Gibbet Hill provided us with an excellent vendor list which included our florist (Kerianne Nelson Flora) who transformed the ruins into a dreamscape and the barn and dining tables into an elegant fantasy space. Their vendor list also included our cake baker (Alice Lombardi at Bean Counter) who made a gorgeous and delicious cake which Kerianne Nelson Flora topped with fresh flowers.
Thank you, Gibbet Hill, for such a magical wedding in every way!! We will remember it always.

This was the best wedding I've ever gone to. And much of the raves go to the Barn, staff, facility, food, etc. We had a string quartet, a super 7 member band that kept going and going. Unbelievable canapes, bar staff, dinner, dessert room, plenty of coffee, tea, etc. Unbelievable lux hot chocolate for the cold evening. Very clean bathrooms. Well decorated hall. They abided by the covid protocols so we felt safe. Attentive staff to our every needs-very personable. What a great place.
Oh, and the food was great, creative recipes and combinations. And they were able to attend to dietary issues.

My review of the not-so-great restaurant is separate from this one. Before our reservation we took the hike up to what they call "the ruins." It's a short walk (to us) around the base up the hill behind the restaurant and up to what looks like an old castle. It's got some cool history and was neat to see, but that's not why we were there. The 2018 version of Little Women had a key scene filmed here. My daughter is a huge fan, and wanted to find the exact spot where the actors were. She did. Several of the trees looked the same and she was able to pinpoint where the scene was filmed 3 years earlier. That made it a fun day.

I'm sorry to say that for a high end restaurant, we were somewhat disappointed. As for the good...amazing corn bread was served immediately and server was very attentive. The house salad is ample and very fresh. The not so great...the filet had some gristle and was not as tender as expected. The yukon gold potatoes were watery and tasteless. Understandably there are some up charges for the steaks but personally we found $2.00 for a couple of tablespoons of steak sauce a bit much.
All in all, it's a clean, well decorated facility in a beautiful location.

Remember your wallet when you come here butr you won't go home hungry. Great home cooking and bar. Family restaurant or a place to just hang out this place has it all but like all great things there is a cost but the food is worth every penny. Stop in the end of rt 40 to have a night for yourself you deserve the treatment they will give you. You won't have room for desert so be sure to stop they'll set you up with take home. i had the rest of my steak the next day for breakfast at the house and it was still great. with my eggs. This place will not dissappoint you!

We attended a wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill last night. The venue is stunning. The food was delicious. When I read "Barn" I was apprehensive. I am so over people have weddings in non-air conditioned venues with haystacks for seats and centerpieces on a slice of a tree. This was NO BARN. There was a beautiful porch for the cocktail hour and the function room was stunning. The passed appetizers and the dinner was absolutely delicious. At the end of the evening warm, cider donuts were passed around. They were sooooo good!

The rolling hills and fields of the Gibbet Hill Farm were a great setting for a wedding. The outdoor setup was a pleasing experience. The renovated barn with large deck provided a relaxing atmosphere for the wedding reception.

The lovely atmosphere and great service makes Gibbit Hill a busy place. Be prepared to spend around $50 each if you want a drink.
Farm to table when possible gives the menu a different flavor. There should be something for everyone.
They serve great corn bread with honey butter. I got haddock which I enjoyed. Sautéed vegetables had a different flavor and ancient whole grains that was served cold. My husband got steak tips (I like The 99 steak tips better but that is probably because of the salty marinade). The food is not your typical chain restaurant.
If you are on a budget -- save and go to Gibbit Hill for a special occasion. You will make memories at this romantic place. Stroll the grounds if you can. Check out the pictures. I hope this helped.

Well there's not a lot of trails - it's basically one trail that walks up to the top of this hill area where the building remains are. You could spend around an hour to an hour and a half walking up, checking out the sites and walking back down.
