I Love loved my experience with the family at HOPKINTON STATE PARK.
Its a 30 mins drive from where we live! Went on a Sunday! It wasn't extremely busy.
The water was clean, serene, peaceful! A few families were having a BBQ picnic. Lots of grills. I could count over 30 in strategic safe distance places all over the lake.
Place is well kept. Bring your own water.
I didn't see any tour guides around ( probably because it was a holiday)
Kids were dipping their foot in the water.
People wore their masks and still had a good time!
Im planning to explore at night time too. The signs show they close at 8pm. We Didn't pay any entrance fee! Probably because it was a holiday!
I saw a boat rental. A family brought their private boat and had a nice ride on the lake!
There's an amazing waterfalls,( small yet seemingly intentional) depending on your view. Its beautiful when you view it from the mountain.
Great place for kids to runaround.
Great place for dogs to exercise too.
Great place for seniors to walk and exercise! My mom picked a stick from the trail and used ot as support to walk the rest of the hike.
CON: We took the hikes to get to the beach/lake! The signs are too small. It could be made bigger for easy visibility!
TIP: go with a fully charged phone! Open the map of the place on your phone so you can find your way back.
If you have a tracking feature on your car link it to your phone so you can easily find your car!
Bring a stroller along incase the little ones get tired of hiking.
2 entrances! The first one leading to the beach/ lake.
Second entrance leads to the hiking trails.
Cars are not allowed beyond a certain point. Good so kids can walk around freely!
Con:
The RESTROOMS was closed so beware( so be , not sure if its because it was a holiday!
Thing is hwhen you're exhausted youll need your car a bit closer...lol.
Have snacks to nibble on along the way! The trails are airy.
My kids are looking forward to coming again so we might go there once or 2x a month God willing!

This small state park is a breath of fresh air. One can choose to rent various small water craft, visit two small beaches, two nice picnic areas or hike around the lake. It's also a great are to visit with friends of family or on your own.

We walked over the dam all the way to the boathouse. it was beautiful. We were there the last day the boathouse was open so we rented a paddle boat and and went all around the lake. Highly recommended

Large lake, boat rentals, great hiking trails, your able to grill and picnic. It’s a great place to spend an hour or two when passing through town.

I live near by so this is the place to be with friends in the summer. My church goes there every year for pleasure and a great barbecue. The children bathe in the lake and the place is very secure.

A marvelous feeling visiting Hopkinton state park. Very big forest & differ named trails for hiking , a beautiful lake where in u can do kayaking, paddling , fishing and rent a boat also. Though swimming not allowed as water is used for human use.Areas allotted for picnic with grills , benches and meadows for playing , njoying. A dam or reservoir which supplies waster to Ashland, Boston used for recreation/ flood control etc. downstream artificial beaches are made for public recreation . All the side magnificent view and worth visit spot. Nicely maintained 👌.

A well maintained town park in Hopkinton, with a summer boating program, swim beach and outdoor grill area. A great place to learn to sail and spend time with friends.

Very good park in summer months. We went together as a big group freinds and families together and had lunch and then played many sports like soccer and frisbee and children also had lots of fun.

Excellent location, great small lake, boating kayaking options. Great for picnic and just spending some quality time with friends and family.

This is a great State park, for any season. Summers are quite crowded on a hot day so get there early for parking. Any other season there are plenty of things to do as well. They have a boating house where you can rent boats and/or SUPs. It looks like they have a great selection!

I believe there are no more life guards after Labor Day but now totally sure. I’m sure they allow swimming

What if you arrive at the park at 6pm. Do you still have to pay the $8 daily fee? Is there a cutoff time for paying?

Usually at that time there is no one collecting fees. I think they stop sometime around 5:00
