We stumbled across this and really enjoyed it. The walk is easy and gives nice views of the marsh. If you enjoy historic properties you will enjoy the Paine House.

The setting is bucolic and the view is stunning! I took my dog for a walk and l could see plein air possibilities everywhere! I was a little nervous about wild animals lurking around!

What a lovely walk around the property, overlooking the marshes and admiring the gorgeous foliage. It is serene, pristine, and very peaceful

This first period home is virtually intact and apart from some changes, it retains it original charm.

We visited Greenwood Farm on a warm (75 degrees) Columbus Day. The sky was bright blue and the marshes were golden. The fields were quiet. The parking area accommodates 4 or 5 cars. The trails are well kept. As you walk over a rise you suddenly get the distance view of the marsh, the river and the distant ocean. There is only one wooden bench for a rest break. Look for the large oak near the Paine House. This place was exactly what we were looking for--a quiet natural space. Open sunrise to sunset year round.

We must have walked through property at low tide because the only water we saw was a few marshes. There is a very nicely mowed trail to follow - very easy. The house is certainly evocative of old New England but you are not allowed inside. Very quiet, peaceful walk

Greenwood Farm is truly a throwback in time. Walking through the open fields with views of Marsh, River and Ocean must be exactly as it was 300 years ago. The farm house is sited in such a beautiful spot as you walk over the hill, it's as if you expect to see a team of horses pulling a plow through the fields. The ancient rock walls evoke a strong farmer carefully carrying each stone from the fields to create a lasting property line. It's very much a sight that's been preserved for future generations.

This is an important historical site in the Cape Ann, MA area, and it merits a visit, especially if you are in the area and love to hike. I've included a link to the website in this review, which provides all the information you need to convince you that this is time well spent! The hike is a breeze and especially lovely off season; the day I visited I was the only person on the property.

Taking a walk to the Paine House (1694) at Greenwood Farm, is like taking a walk back in time. The trail to get there is beautiful and when you come upon the bright yellow clapboard house with white trim, one almost wants to go inside and enjoy a cup of tea. Upon reaching the house, the view of the marsh is striking! Keep an eye out for blue herons and egrets!
