A beautiful, historic harbor in an old Southeastern Massachusetts town famous for shipbuilding in the good old days. Mattapoisett harbor is afloat with yachts, sailboats and etc. in the summer month's, there are several docks, landings, etc. alongside the harbor providing ability to launch large sailing vessels and cruisers. The town is awash with historic homes going back to the Revolutionary War period, there is much to see in Mattapoisett. Several beaches line the harbor as well.

the wharf is a very active place with lots of boats being hauled in or out of the water. The harbor is beautiful with lots of large mansions on the waterfront to view as you sail past. There is an Inn across the street from the wharf that is popular with locals and visitors alike...I love this place and have spent a lot of time here...one of the most special places on the east coast. The wharf has beautiful parks of either side. The larger shipyard park has lots of special events weekly during the summer. The smaller park is a nice place to sit on a bench and read or just meditate, watch the water....

I may be prejudice .... but I don’t think there are many places prettier than Mattapoisett harbor! Obviously gorgeous in the summer, but is also beautiful in the fall, winter and spring!

Sail or motor into Mattapoisett Harbor and you'll find moorings, the Mattapoisett Boatyard, a dedicated and experienced Harbor Master and crew, and the Mattapoisett General Store, Inn at Shipyard Park and the Ice Cream Slip just steps away.
Come by car and the Mattapoisett Inn and Shipyard Inn both offer lodging.
Convenient drive from Boston or Providence areas, with no Cape Cod bridges, traffic or hordes of tourists!

Nice to watch sail boats and other nautical ships in this quaint little town where I grew up. You can even fish off the pier. Beautiful natural harbor! There is a new country store near the gazebo,where you can get light food and beverage and dozens of items with Mattapoisett regalia. As the bumper sticker says, "Mattapoisett: It's Special!

C'est un port de plaisance tout à fait typique de la Nouvelle Angleterre mais sans le snobisme de Hyannis Port ou de Martha's Vinyard. Les plaisanciers sont d'un abord très sympathiques. La plupart sont des résidents de Mattapoisett depuis des générations. A noter que tous les mercredis soir en été, il y a des concerts sous l'orphéon. C'est une tradition de longue date que les résidents ne manqueraient pour rien au monde. Dans la journée, on peut déguster des glaces dans le parc.

I always go to the harbor to launch my boat, to fish. And to listen to band concerts in the summer. A pleasant place to enjoy a picnic. Many whalers were built in the harbor.

What a beautiful, classic New England Harbor. The wharves offer fishing opportunites and chances to watch boaters or maybe even get someone to take you fishing. The C-shaped harbor is a sheltered option for boats making their way up or down the coast. With the Cape and Martha's Vineyard just across the bay, it is a great place to visit. While you are there, consider a stay with Deanne at the Mattapoisett Inn, right across the street.

Lots of activity with boats coming in and out. Ice cream stand on the banks. Grassy area to walk on and benches to sit on and watch the sail boats and fishng right on the dock!
