This was my first time at this venue and it was wonderful. Only seats 800 so its small and very intimate. Saw Lonestar which was great! Hoping they have more great concerts soon!!!

While the show, "The Wizard of Oz",was outside under tent in the parking lot, the entire entire performance was excellent. We've seen Judy Collins in the theatre itself but the experience under tent was something to behold. The cast was wonderful and avoided trying to emulate the movie. While there were no special effects (such as flying monkeys or flying witches on a broom stick) the production cleverly managed to indicate that kind of action. While we went initially to benefit our young grand-daughter, we all left feeling we had just witnessed a first-class theatrical production.

The venue itself is beautiful. Intricate carvings on the balcony. The front row is literally at the foot of the stage, which was great for watching a comedian. Parking is a bit challenging.

Words cannot adequately describe the performance by this one man actor, concert pianist. He was phenomenal. 90 minute show with thirty minutes added at the end. Fantastic. Not to be missed.

Architecturally amazing theatre that brings one back to the Gilded Age. Saw The Music Man and Little Shop of Horrors. Both excellent. Loved that this theatre recruited talented local students for some singing parts. The kids were awesome!
The more serious shows tend to end up in Stockbridge but please see a show here.. it is the Grand Dame

JUST AVERAGE WHEN COMPARED TO ALL OTHERS IN THE BERKSHIRES; once in a while you can see a good show but most are just one nighters

Very few original productions...........

fantastic show.
Great to hear the story about ASlan freed.
The sounds from the past were great.
The singers were fantastic the others needed a little polish and they seemed a bit amateurish but well worth the viewing.
BNuy tickets on line to assure good seating.

My wife and I went to see Rock and Roll Man last night. (We are baby boomers). What a terrific show!! The songs had the audience clapping and swaying to the beat. Hats off to the entire ensemble. You don't want to miss this show.
Theater has been beautifully restored. Many good seats all over the theater. Volunteer ushers in the mezzanine section we're extremely helpful and kind.
GO see this show!

Rock and Roll Man: The Alan Freed Story delineates Freed’s incipient love of music from the time he joined a high school band. Racism was a leitmotif throughout the play from his family’s attitude, to the way mainstream radio stations banned “race music,” to white covers of black songs, and an ultimate ban of rock and roll in Boston. Alan Campbell as Alan Freed effectively filled the role. The other outstanding member of an extremely talented cast was Richard Crandle as Little Richard, a lifelong friend of Freed.
The private life of Freed, who had three marriages and abandoned his children while he worked at various radio stations and presented concerts around the country, was used against him in a trial by J. Edgar Hoover (George Wendt). What ultimately undid Freed was his escape into alcohol while being tried for taking payola. The story was affecting and a brilliant piece of nostalgia into the birth and infancy of the rock and roll era.
Gary Kupper, who wrote the book, music, and lyrics of original songs, did an outstanding job of presenting the history of a man who coined the phrase “rock and roll” and died too young at the age of 43. However, the show ends on a positive tone in noting that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, the place where Freed began his career as a disk jockey, had him as their first inductee.
Although the show was presented at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Massachusetts after a run in Pennsylvania’s Bucks County Playhouse, I spoke with the producer of Pretty Woman, who wanted to bring the show to Broadway. This is one to watch for a wonderful trip down memory lane with a gifted cast and musicians.
