Pittsfield State Forest is BEAUTIFUL! Many picnic tables, lots of hiking trails, a really gorgeous scenic road, streams, a pond and probably more that we didn't even see. We were there during peak foliage time and it was just stunning. Best of all, on the trails, your dog can be off-leash! Our little dog had a blast running along the trails!

We X-county skied in the forest and it was beautiful! It isn't groomed so it can be quite challenging depending on the conditions so be prepared. It is also a wonderful place to hike, bike or snowshoe.

There are so many trails, so many beautiful views, lovely ponds, and nice trails for 4 wheeling--there are camping sites

We did the LuLu Brook Trail. You're hiking by the stream and a few water falls. There are ups and downs and a few places where you need to be in shape and have strong knees. It's a beautiful Fall hike - about 3.4 miles round trip. We took the Hoween down. There are flush toilets at the comfort station by the foot of each of these trails. It's worth driving the loop to see the view Westward from the top.

There are very nice camping spots built right along the stream with built in fire pits. The loop is a very challenging bike ride as it can be steep in spots but Berry pond and the spectacular views of New York State from the overlook are worth the trip.

Winter offers many trails for x-c skiing. There is a car road to the top for views, pond, and camp sites. Trails for hiking an mountain biking. Handicapped trails with outdoor shelter. Seasonal rest rooms.

We were here on vacation from Miami so for us the vegetation and environment is so different from home. We initially came here in search of Lulu Falls, but we never saw it due to a lack of direction signs. I was given a map on first entering the park and my two children (ages 14 and 9) and I hiked on the trail for about 30 minutes and never found it.
However, we did take the road in our car that goes all the way around the forest and came across some beautiful views.
There is Berry Pond, which there is a sign that states it is the highest natural body of water in the state. There are also several camping sites.
The drive around the whole park with stopping to take pictures and enjoy the views took about an hour.
We realized when we were leaving that if we had arrived later we would have been able to enjoy the park for free because after 5pm there was no one at the front gate. We paid $10 to get in, which wasn't bad.
We experienced something different so I think it was worth it.

I was looking for a place to pull in with my teardrop trailer to camp with my two young children. There is a pond for the kids to go swimming. There are group camping sites where there is a flat rate that was nominal. I'm can't remember the exact number but I believe it was for up to 30 or 60 people. I paid 27 dollars for our campsite with the trailer. I believe the price for tenting was 17 dollars. They have firewood to purchase for 5 dollars. The site was immaculate. They do not have electricity or water, but do have bathrooms and family showers. We stayed around the site predominantly but, I was told that there are beautiful sunsets in the park. The staff were really nice and accommodating. We had a great time!

and ended up leaving early. Will say, the site was great. The amount of partying happening up top was not. Once 10pm rolled around, it seemed like it was when everyone comes out. In the site next to me, someone came in around 10:30pm to set up came (after driving around looking for an empty site). Ended up leaving early because it felt like I was never going to sleep. Like I said, the site was great, the staff was great....the atmosphere from other people, not so great.
Sorry.....more than likely will not be back. I will look for quieter locations in the Berkshires.

Before you settle in for the day for hiking or camping, take the full drive around the parks road. It is a loop that does not take too long and brings you right back to the start, but well worth it. Beautiful views and just a lot of fun. We have camped there, had family picnics there, and hiked the many trails there. Just another wonderful spot in the Berkshires.

Follow the main road right up to the top for a great view! There are a few group campsites that are cleared, just give them a call and ask if anyone is there the time you want to go up.
