Go here! Hidden gem (and free!) and worth going in to see the large boat replica built inside. Friendly staff, great history and selection and a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle outside. They even have a free little library outside perfect for vacationers and locals alike.

Must-see, interesting small-town library. We are annual Provincetown vacationers, and are able to have a library card here because we are Massachusetts residents. But even without the ability to check out books and films, you should not miss a tour of this building. Originally a church, then a museum, it houses the large replica of the Rose Dorothea racing ship, with accompanying videos about the race, the build, and the rigging. Until he died at age 100, the ship builder, Francis "Flyer" Santos, was a regular drop-in and a sociable interlocutor with visitors -- a portrait of him graces a wall. There is a children's area next to the ship, and when the kids inevitably get noisy, the librarian will direct you to quiet study rooms. There's free wifi, use of computers, and public restrooms. Card holders may check out passes for a couple of the town museums. Year round, the library hosts movie nights and speakers, and its website features local artists. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.

interesting history with the reconstructed sailing ship indoors. nice place with air conditioning to beat the heat if needed. quiet place to relax and read a book with great view of the harbor

True no one goes to the traditional library anymore but this one is a reminder of the past when such things existed. This library is in a historic building and surprisingly has a boat inside one of the upper floors. Rumor has it there are books too.

It was so fun to go into the library and see the half scale schooner that it is built around! You learn a lot of local history too.

The upcycling of an old church into the Provincetown Library is truly a sight to see. The addition of modern amenities, woven into the historic building, is very well done.
The story of the building’s history is well told with wall plaques throughout. The one half scale replica of the Rose Dorothea, a Grand Banks fishing schooner, on the second floor spurs the imagination of young and old and really ties to the history of the town.
The household appliances ‘lender’ area is such a great idea and yet another way libraries are places that help bind a community together.

We never expected to see a half/scale model of the Rose Dorothea within the library. Although we have been to P’town multiple times, we never ventured into the library. A number of friends have mentioned this replica sailing ship to us. It definitely is worthwhile visiting. The original ship was built in Essex, MA over 100 years ago.

Enjoyed our visit to the Provincetown library. The reading room, wonderful charm and unbelievable sail boat that was erected inside, made our visit worthwhile.

I believe it is a public free library. I have never paid for admission. I think there is a donation box. I attended a May poetry reading with refreshments gratis. They also supply free or reduced museum admission.
