Funky clothes that you won't find anywhere else. I loved shopping here and spent too much! Plus they have all the new agey stuff here too - including gongs, and other cool instruments.

Visited this shop while on vacation in Rockport. The merchandise was very eccentric and rich in diverse cultures. They carry unique ethnic clothing, jewelry, statues and some spiritual gifts and merchandise. Very impressive inventory.

Stopped in this place while touring Rockport. Since I am a collector of masks from around the world, I was very pleased to have found many of them there. I purchased two and they handled the shipping for me. Would have bought more if I knew where I could have hung them once I got back home. They have two floors of assorted handmade crafts, jewelry and clothing. While there, another customer was returning to this store to purchase yet another ring since she became so fond of her previous purchase there.

Gloating Lotus really stands out as the most interesting shop in Bearskin Neck, or even in Rockport in general! You can tell the owner (Justin) selects the fair-trade hand-made items in the store with love and conscience. If you are at the store, please do not forget to go up to the second floor! We were really lucky as the store owner Justin happened to be there and he was demonstrating playing all of the really precious Tibetan prayer bowls that he collected! It was quite an amazing treat! Highly recommend and we would definitely return!!

I have been in this store many times over the years. This was an unusual experience. This past Labor Day my husband and I went in to this store, and we were shadowed the whole time. The salesperson was never more than one step away from us. Helpful, maybe. I couldn't understand why we were followed, not a comfortable shopping experience. I will stick to on line for this place.

I've been a customer of Floating Lotus for many years. The owners provide many items for sale ranging from imported and owner designed clothing, CDs, jewelry, incense and more to events that offer sound meditation, dance, that provide community gatherings. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's great to drop in to check out mew items for sale. They have two locations, one in Rockport in Bearskin neck (original location) and in Gloucester on Main Street.

My friend brought me to The Floating Lotus during my recent visit to Rockport.
Such a gorgeous shop!
I could have spent much more time there. The owners are also very nice.
A Monk bag caught my eye, bought it and love it.
I was also lucky enough to see their new shop in Gloucester.
Excited for my return and visit these shops more.

This quiet boutique-shop in a Rockport alley has some of the friendliest staff ever. Greeted immediately, I was able to walk around without freely.
Prices a bit steep, but consider their products are imported and genuine.

During a day visit to Rockport, we popped into this store with our 3- and 14-year-old, and I'm so glad we did. Truly unique and varied items in the store, of the highest quality and such an array. From the moment we entered we were made to feel welcome, unlike many of the other stores in town where people working in them seemed mostly disinterested and gruff. In fact, a woman working in the store (I believe the mother of the owner), walked around with us, offered a lot of interesting background info on products and brought to our attention a number of great items that really were consistent with our tastes. She was genteel and patient, especially with our little one, who can get a bit restless after some shopping that isn't for toys. My only regret is that we didn't buy anything, because we planned to round back there at the end of the day to get something but didn't end up making due to travel schedule constraints. However, next time in Rockport, this will be our first shopping stop. We may also get something from their online store (floatinglotus.net). I don't usually like to buy such items online, preferring to see and touch them, but having been to the store and knowing the quality will be top notch, have no problem ordering from them online.
If you go to the store, be sure to go to the upstairs area, best stuff up there in my opinion.
Really worth the visit if you're in Rockport and so refreshing to know that a few such stores still exist in our rapidly decaying world with cookie cutter chain stores destroying the main streets and Mom&Pop stores across America (among other causes...).
