Artisan's Asylum is a member collective which provides 40,000+ s.f. of top notch industrial equipment and facilities. The real benefit are the members. Note: I am not a member, just a hanger-on who consults with the members occasionally. I have toured the facility twice. One of my children was a member and volunteer. In short, if you need access to plasma cutters, electronics labs, wood working equipment or need training, this is your place. Consult the website for the tour schedule and then join. You will boost whatever you are doing. My rating system: 5* = fantastic/wow; 4* = good; 3* = acceptable; 2* = avoid unless desperate; 1* = avoid even if desperate.

Artisan's Asylum: Innovation, Creativity & Food for Thought

If you are visiting close to Harvard and and interested in being inspired, Artisan's Asylum is a stop you won't regret. It is one of the largest "maker spaces" - possibly the largest - in the world. In a warehouse space spread over 40,000+ square feet there is a "pueblo" of people making everything from conventional art, to robots, electronic circuits in more. If you are local, you may end up signing up for one of the many classes and workshops offered. A regular on international "innovation tours" it's one of Boston's best kept secrets!
