My wife and I very much enjoyed the exhibits / installations on display. Each floor had very different and highly interesting pieces.
The only negative was that as soon as we arrived to each of the five floors, the security guard (5 floors, 5 guards), would immediately stand and then proceed to follow us at a distance of ~10 feet. When we would stop at a piece, they would either pace back and forth until we moved or just stand behind us - very distracting and intrusive. It seemed like the younger guards were more respectful, but it still seemed excessive.

Más o menos cada seis meses se presenta una exposición de primera en este museo, situado en Wellesley College. “Latin_American_Art Against the Survey” es una magnífica forma de entrar en contacto con la plástica latinoamericana y chicana contemporánea. Encuentras desde los clásicos María Izquierdo, Diego Rivera, Raúl Anguiano, José Clemente Orozco, Portocarrero hasta Alice Rahon, Guillermo Kuitca, Esther Hernández o Nahum Zenil. La entrada cuesta 20 usd.

We've been going to the Davis since it first opened, enjoying its diverse collection in a beautiful space. Recently they have begun to charge $20 for adults/non students to enter its main exhibit (totally empty btw). You can visit the permanent collection for free. The charge felt unwelcoming and unnecessary for such a wealthy college. In fact, I've never seen a charge for a college museum; it's a way to welcome neighbors on campus. There's a giant blurb on the entry wall describing all of the Davis' recent innovations. I guess it's meant to explain the charge.

Located on the beautiful grounds of a well spaced campus, this college museum has over 13,000 objects, most of which were donated over many year dating back to the 19th Century. No fee for the permanent collection and modest admission is charged for exhibits. This is a working student orientated museum offering a wide range of introduction and advanced levels of art with an especially strong collection of African art. Start at the top floor and work your way down taking about 1-2 hrs. Parking is available in a nearby garage. Some walking is necessary. American art is under represented but may just have not been up. There is a political vibe through the labeling of work done by immigrants or donated by them.

The Davis is in the heart of the Wellesley College campus. Its collection is large, varied and pretty good. One negative: Unlike many college art museums, the Davis charges a fairly steep $20 admission fee for adults. Still, this is worth a visit.

I visited this museum three times this fall. It is a smallish place with a very largish feel and collection. The permanent collection (that which is displayed) is impressive. The temporary exhibitions are very well done. The curation is imaginative and impressive and reminds one of a much more prominent museum, which makes me realize that the museum staff is very developed and experienced. Thank you!

We were fortunate to visit while a gallery was showing a collection of quilts made by African women who lived in India- an amazing combination of color and innovation.
We also enjoyed the permanent collection-a spectacular Horace Pippin stood out.
Helps to have wealthy alums.

Was visiting the school with my daughter during spring break. While most of the classroom buildings were closed, the museum was open. We enjoyed the collection and it was well arranged. Skipped the special exhibit as it cost $20 and we were not willing to spend that much.

I came here hoping to enjoy the special exhibit - which cost $20 by the way. I was harassed the whole time by a really odd male guard. Strange in a gallery at a women’s museum. He followed me around the whole time. While browsing I noticed paper hearts all over the floor near paintings and photos. They said “Take a selfie” with your favorite piece, post it with hashtags for the museum, and leave this on the floor by the art. I went back to the entrance and found a pile of these hearts and was about to do what it instructed when the guard came over to me and asked for the heart back. Pretty strange! A construction paper heart. I showed him the instructions and all he would say is “I have not been informed.” It was creepy. Yes, I did inform the staff. Apparently he has worked here a long time and is just like that. I would give this place a miss.

A beautifully designed interior exhibition area has you wandering through seeking new treasures. Portraits and pictures displayed on walls with large and small objects from many civilizations filling the space. New and old artistic expressions unfold before you with subtle curiosity. A fabulous time was had in a beautiful campus. If you have time, stroll around the lake on a woodsy trail.
