Very interesting presentation by the friendly, knowledgeable guide. Small group allowed for conversation and questions. Our guide provided information about the history of Worcester as well as many facts about one of its most prominent families. I highly recommend this tour.

We had free passes for this house tour, we were not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised by how interesting this tour was.
Small, obscure property, with an interesting history and artifacts. I would bring visiting family and friends to this place.

The Salisbury family was one of the great Worcester families. Their house has been preserved and fitted out with period furnishings

After visiting the Worcester Historical Museum ( also worth the visit), my son and I walked to Salisbury House and were treated to a guided tour by Linda- who was extremely knowledgeable and gracious to share her love of the house. They have many original fragments of the house such as a hand-painted canvas floor mat that was exquisite, original wall papers that have been sympathetically reproduced and some great pieces of early American furniture. All this is beautifully displayed and the stories told by Linda brought the house and the rooms to life. My only regret was that I had to abbreviate my tour due to a previous commitment! I hope to return to learn more about the house in-depth, most especially the house festooned for the Christmas Season...I can only image how magical that will be. A great sliver of 18th Century American history not to be missed!

This was an entertaining and enjoyable step back into the history of Worcester. Guided tour from a knowledgeable guide that provided lots of information and history about the mansion and it's former owners, as well as many facts about the local area. If you're looking for opulent decor and fancy finish work, you won't find it here. But this is a nice view back into a simpler time in Worcester, to see how some of the city's early citizens lived.

The Salisbury mansion is beautiful and takes a great picture. It is partly hidden in the back of a municipal parking lot rather than immediately facing the street.

The Salisbury Mansion was built in 1772 by Stephen Salisbury as a store and home. During the Revolutionary War, more family members joined him to escape occupied Boston. He and his wife Elizabeth remodeled the house, furnished it elegantly, and created the home that you see today. Three generations of Salisburys helped shape Worcester into a thriving city with museums and universities. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful home and interesting historical stories about the Salisbury family run store. See furnishings and period collectibles on site. Imagine yourself among the Worecster elite during the 1800s.
