I visited here while doing the Somme Remembrance Trail. I would have got a lot more out of the memorial had I remembered my glasses. I left them in the car which meant a bit of a walk back to the car park to get them. I didn't have the time for that and so I had to squint at the signs in the South African National Museum and after a while I couldn't really read them. I did enjoy my visit though but since my wife was waiting in the car I didn't have time to walk through the wood. I'd like to do that another time though. Definitely worth a visit.

Un bel endroit en hommage aux combattant dans une belle clairière bien entretenue dans les bois.

After finally managing to vista the Cemetery, Originally meant to visit in 2020 but Covid-19 came along.
Went to the British & Commonwealth
(Mainly British) Just across the road from the South African memorial,
Well kept and looked after, Very poignant that it was a Warm and Sunny and quiet May Afternoon, Total opposite of the Conditions during the Winter the Soldiers had to contend with.
Visited the SA Memorial afterwards
And warked through the woods
The area's where the Trenches are you can walk following the streets names they were given ,Buchanan Street
Bond Street The strand Rotten Row.
There is definitely a Atmosphere in the Woods , I was the only one at the time But it was easy to imagine the Horrors that Happened there.

A moving and highly informative memorial and museum to the South African armed forces. The accounts of the conflict in Delville Wood bring to life the horror of war and the bravery shown by the soldiers. The surrounding woodland is beautiful but with the outline of trenches and shell holes still clearly visible.

Un lieu de mémoire pour toutes les générations. Repos de ceux qui ont perdu la vie en particulier à la 1ère guerre mondiale. Pelouse boisée, jardins fleuris, joli musée, accueil par Michèle sud africaine francophone. Un lieu de mémoire à ne pas manquer qui surprend par sa grande beauté et l apaisement qui s en dégage.

Deville wood is an amazing memorial to the South African soldiers who died in World War 1 and walking around the wood is very moving

Si hubiera una lista de lugares imprescindibles a visitar relacionados con la Gran Guerra, este seria uno de ellos. Un gran memorial a los caidos de Surafrica y que se vieron en una guerra que no les tocaba nada salvo ser una colonia del Imperio Britanico.
Excelente construccion y todo su entorno para recordar a los tuyos y que la memoria no olvide el por que y donde cayeron.

Superbe memorial, très bien entretenu. C’est le mémorial de toutes les troupes sud-africaines pour les opérations extérieures à l’Afrique subsaharienne. L’accueil est très chaleureux au centre d’informations.
The last tree est magnifique, le dernier témoin de l’horreur qu’a été cette bataille.
Le musée est très instructif sur les forces en présence, son histoire doit aussi être vue dans le contexte de l’Afrique du Sud contemporaine.

This is a magnificent war memorial and museum honoring the South Africans who fought in the Great War in this area of France. The Delville Wood CWGC Cemetery is across the road from a big grassy area at the back of which sits this incredible Memorial. It's too overwhelming to describe, so I took a lot of photographs.
There is a Visitor Center and parking and clean restrooms to visit before you make the rather long walk out to the Memorial and Museum. On a beautiful day, it will be an incredible walk. The wind was blowing icy cold the day we visited even though the sun was shining brightly.
If you plan on visiting the Somme area of France and the cemeteries and memorials, put this one on your list. It really is a "must see."

How much are the admission /entrance fees, and are there parking and camping sites nearby available? Open all year? Thank you

Admission is free
The site is open all year but the memorial closes in December and January.
There is plenty of free parking at the information centre / museum.
