This is just about the beach area. There are so many rocks that it makes it hard to walk on the beach or even into the water. But the nice thing is there is a large stretch of beach where you don’t have to walk miles of sand to get to the water itself. So it’s a trade off.

We had a gorgeous fall drive up the peninsula and came across this beautiful park. Definitely worth stopping by and taking in the view of Grand Traverse Bay. No dogs allowed on the beach. $25 fine. It had pretty trails and a play area for the children. Looks like the campground was very nice as well. Decent sized campsites.

Just happened to stumble upon this gem of a beach with my fiancé. We had a blast here! It was chilly and slightly windy the days we visited, so it was just us two. Such a beautiful spot to sit and watch the waves or to walk along the beach.

Very nice campsite and overall campground but their first come, first serve operation is difficult for RVERS since if you arrive and there's no space, you have driven a LONG way.
Clean restrooms, $31 for electric is fair.
Campground is right on Lake Michigan and there is a beach.

Stopped out at the beach at Barnes Park today (a Sunday). What an absolutely gorgeous site! First time for us, family of three with a 7 month old. Beach space is tight, arrived around 12:30pm and got the last good spot. There is NOT a lot of room to get a good spot to begin with and it started to get really crowded around 1pm. The small beach size does make it easy for families to keep their kids close while playing in the water. The water couldn't be prettier, but be aware of lots of rocks before you enter--thankfully they are mostly smooth and very colorful! I will probably take water shoes next time though with carrying my infant around in there. Many people walk up and down the shoreline hunting for Petoskey stones. Found a few ourselves. The campground that is situated here looks like a ton of fun for families as well. So many happy, friendly people just enjoying the nice weather. Will go again!

Barnes Park offers the ultimate camping experience. It really felt like a neighborhood of people who were camping and were buddies and had stayed there for many years.
The facilities are beyond perfect with full showers and restrooms and a short walk down to the beach is great for the kids. The individual camp sites are wooded, private & have permanemt fire pits.
We haven't camped there but we are recommending it to all of our friends who do because of its location and the amenities and it's nearness to other things to do.
Anytime you can camp within walking distance of Lake Michigan you should take that opportunity.

The water was amazingly clear and felt comfortable. The only downside were a number of rocks mixed in with the sand, we were expecting more of a sandy beach, but oh well! There is a bathhouse at the top of the hill with a faucet to spray off your feet so you don't have to track sand into your vehicle. The campground adjacent has a small park for kids to play at.

Enjoyed the festival - plenty of activities for kids. Over 25 vendors. There is access to Lake Michigan. Down by the campgrounds are stairs to get there. We did not camp here. I made it a 4 because we could not find signage, so took us a while to find the entrance to Lake MI. 1st entrance we found was steep, found the stairs when driving on the way out.

Use to enjoy camping here..but management never notified us they had terrible issue with wood cockroaches and our camper and everything we took camping were full of these bugs and they came home with us took us months to get rid of them. Antrim county wouldn't even consider refunding any of the money we paid to replace all of the food,paper products etc..we had to throw out. Plus all the pesticides to kill lol them
