Amazing!

I took my Mom in August of 2022 to the Cross in the woods. Its very breathtaking and it makes you realize how much more bigger God really is. To see Jesus hanging on that cross makes you realize the sacrifice that was made for us. I did not like the signs that say The Man on the cross, we all know that's Jesus? If you take God out of everything you have nothing. Look at the world around us right now. Look at all the chaos around us, lets call it what it is. I was very disappointed to see this and very offended. I hope those signs are changed because the Man on the cross is Jesus Christ and that's who I believe in!

Make a stop!

We weren't planning on stopping at Cross in the Woods when we were planning our trip. However, it seemed like such a peaceful place to spend some time as we drove by that we stopped. The Stations of the Cross are laid out through a wooded area that lead to the base of the cross. It has been created in a simple, tasteful manner that allows one to spend as much time as wanted. I was moved by the Holy Stairs.

Peaceful break from the highway and life

Having driven up from Grand Rapids earlier in the day, this was a very pleasant and peaceful stop on our journey north. The various exhibits encircled the giant Cross and made the experience a learning trip.

Peaceful stop. Worthwhile.

The grounds were quiet, peaceful, and the crucifix was a holy and beautiful site. It’s a short stop and worth it if in the area.

Cross in the Woods

Cross in the woods is worth a stop while in Northern Michigan. It's only a few minutes drive off 75. The only tricky part is their parking lot. But they do have an overflow lot across the road. This is free to visit. Bathroom are available. There is a large giftshop with items specific to Cross in the Woods and well as other various religious gifts. The large cross is the main sight to see, but there are other statues and things to visit tucked away in trails and areas off to the side, so take a little time to explore.

Spectacular Religious Site!!

Our cousin recommended that we all go here. I am so glad that she did. We all had a wonderful time. The Cross in the Woods is an amazing sanctuary. We toured the grounds a bit, and we said our prayers. Such a blessed setting!!

Absolutely breathtaking!

This was definitely one of my family's favorite stops on our trip to Michigan! The priest who greeted us (I wish I could remember his name!) was so sweet and informative. After a short presentation and history of the land and crucifix we went on our way. Each sculpture and shrine is beautiful, but the crucifix! My oh my it is breathtaking! We enjoyed walking the trail of the stations of the cross. It is so quiet and peaceful there, I wish I lived closer and could spend more time there whenever I wish. I also wish we could have visited during a mass. I'm sure it is lovely. The gift shop is nice and reasonably priced. There is no admission fee, although they do appreciate a donation, also donations for "lighting" prayer candles. We spent about an hour there in total. My photos do no justice to the size and magnitude of the crucifix, but they do show just how beautiful it is.

Peaceful and beautiful

What a beautiful, moving sanctuary! We attended daily Mass at noon ( which lasted exactly 30 min) and then walked the grounds for about an hour. The doll museum was fascinating. What a labor of love.

Wonderful as always

I have been stopping by here with my family for as long as I can remember. It is such a quiet sacred place just to sit and be with God. Powerful. The squirrels and chipmunks are fun to watch. We attended a mass (finally) and the congregation was very welcoming. We also love the gift shop as it carries things that are hard to find. Please keep this going for decades to come.
