Took a stop at this museum while visiting the area. My family and I all had a nice time, and enjoyed a refresher on local history. The staff were very nice, too.

This museum is a part of the Cornish Pump and Glider Museums. This location can only take cash, so, if you need to use plastic, go to the Cornish Pump Museum first.
Many people think of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to be backwards and simple. However, touring this museum, you discover the importance of the area to the iron industry and the further development mining inventions.
To get the full experience, I suggest visiting all three museums.

This beautiful building needs a lot of “TLC”. It is very musty smelling & it is difficult to enjoy all the wonderful history if you have allergies.

May be biased because I used to live nearby and knew it well. Open only from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Many old displays and artifacts give a good feel for the area history. It is surprising how things used to be. Housed in the old Carnegie Library. Individual admission or as a package with the glider and Cornish pump museums. Worth a visit if you're a history buff or in the area on a rainy day.

It's like stepping back in time! Their exhibits are very nice. Lots of things to look at. The ladies that were volunteers were really nice and informative. A good place to check out.

People who have the time to view & see it all are really impressed.
Last week I helped with their annual 4th grade tours (all local public schools), I love doing this. The kids are fascinated. .... This museum only contains artifacts donated by local residents. Much of it is household artifacts; local Native American artifacts; general store; dentist/doctor offices; mining tools; farming tools; some militaria; musical displays; Edison displays; old schoolhouse; local aviation; & much more. Yes, there is an admission charge. The Menominee Range Historical Museum also operates the Cornish Pump and the Glider Museum. If a patron buys admission to all 3, there is a discount package.

Would loved to have visited this museum; but they were closed (even though the hours listed on their website & on their door indicated they should have been opened on the day/time I was there.)
