This is a nice trail that we rode for about 20 miles round trip. There are woods and areas of industrial and residential. The trail seems to need a bit of maintenance as we encountered glass and fallen trees. When trying to report on the number provided on the sign (Parks and Rec) we were told to call the Dept. of Public Works (didn't answer). So left a message on Facebook and told them we were from out of town and tried to report. Hopefully they will update their contact info and/or keep the trail clean. Bathrooms along with trail would be a nice touch too.

Many miles of paved trail that seems well maintained. There are several spots along the trail with parking access. Not many with bathroom facilities, but if you have the need, some spots neighbor businesses. I use a local trail map to determine my destination and it seems this trail connects with many local trails giving you many options for a day ride, or if you choose, longer.

Here's a gem of a walk. Flat, birds, wooded, river, birds, pond, birds, flowers, bird.
It's particularly grand for those limited in travel, be it wheelchair or stroller, age, or just plain tired.

That's what you'll find on this trail. There are several portions to this trail and I've been on all of them. The northern most part starts at 44th and Kalamazoo on the southwest corner. It travels south east to Wing street, just north of 60th street. There you'll find a small parking lot. At 52nd and Stauffer, you'll find another larger parking lot and public restroom open during daylight hours and well maintained.
I'm an avid runner and former triathlete, and also walk our dog a lot on this trail. It's multi functional and there's plenty of different scenery from quaint neighborhoods, to farmland, wooded areas, business, communities and shopping districts. Don't be surprised if you see deer, pheasants, turkeys, squirrels and other wildlife.
About 1 mile from the north most part is a newer add on trail that travels west to Division and slightly past to connect to another trail that travels north and south. This includes a 1/4 mile winding wooded bridge and travels behind some neighborhoods, and crosses 3 major streets and two minor streets.
If you continue along the initial trail to 52nd and Stauffer, you have two options. On the east side of Stauffer the trail goes north for about 1/4 mile and turns east to Breton and ends near the Kentwood library and CIty Government buildings.
If you go south, you'll come out to Wing and can continue south to 60th where you'll have two more options. If you stay on the north side of 60th, you can take the sidewalk/trail to East Paris where the trail continues south. Once you cross 68th street near the "Pyramid" building the trail will continue to head south and east until you reach the town of Caledonia. It's approximately 9-10 miles from start to finish.
If you cross 60th street at Wing, the trail continues south before it runs west along the M6 freeway. It continues west, crossing Kalamazoo, then Eastern. At Eastern you will go under the M6 overpass and can head back east for about a mile to head to a park that is on 68th street which is ideal if you want to enjoy a picnic or a place to meet for larger groups. If you head west the trail goes to Division and also has a bridge over Division if you choose to cross.
For the advanced runner or biker, you can continue your journey by going north on Division (a bike lane has been added once you reach 60th) for about 1 1/2 miles to 54th street. Take 54th one mile west (left) to Clyde Park, head south on Clyde Park for almost a mile and the trails continues again on the north side of the M6 for about another 4 miles where it connects to the Kent Trail.
The Kent Trail is about 14 miles from 84th street (south) to Butterworth (north) with options off that trail as well.

The trail is well maintained and plenty long enough. There is a small parking lot off 52nd St in Kentwood. It seems to be well used by walkers as well as bicyclers and seems very safe.

This rail trail is very popular in Kentwood between 44 th street and 60 th street. Beyond the 60 th st. parking lot you will ride about two miles east along 60th, ( wide sidewalk) then South on the bike trail along East Paris. After crossing 68th you will be in the country all the way to Caledona a High School. This section of the trail is all asphalt. The trail in Middleville (4 miles paved) follows the Thornapple River. Eventually the trails will all be connected all the way to Vermontville.
