Conveniently located in downtown Marquette. Staff was friendly and exhibits kept us occupied for an hour plus. A good overview of Marquette’s history along with a very interesting railroad exhibit.

This is a small museum but gives all the history on the area, going back thousands of years. There was a special exhibit on recreation in the area, which we found interesting. We found it well worth our time.

This museum was an odd collection of history and culture. History stretched from 10,000 years ago as the glaciers retreated to about 1980. There were several cultural categories such as transportation, sports, communication etc but it didn’t seem to be particularly well organized. There is a temporary exhibit of old dollhouses on the second floor.

We have been meaning to come here since its move but have never managed it. Finally, we returned only to discover we missed a special exhibit we would have enjoyed. Never mind. The new building is spacious and follows CDC recommendations for viewing. You follow the history of the region from the geological start to modern times. All of it is interesting, although smaller kids probably wouldn't be interested as there is a lot of reading. Our visit last just over an hour, and we read most of everything. When you leave, you should have an appreciation for the region, both historically and geologically. A nice little gift shop is worth a visit. They sell some antiques that were donated to the center, including bottles from the area. They also have some local crafts, books and Up North type gifts.

As an upper peninsula local this was the first time my family had attended. We have been to wedding receptions here but never had walked through the exhibits.
This occasion was put on for archeology geared toward kids. There was a scavenge hunt and the kids all learned something.
There is a lot of regional history and it is very interesting. Don't hesitate to visit.

Highly recommend a visit to the Marquette Regional History Center. The Center has put together a very interesting collection that's worth exploring. Special events, like walking tours of Marquette are also offered.

The museum has basically two rooms - one permenant and one changing exhibit.
The history of the Marquette area was very informative. Almost too much so. You could easily spend 3+ hours if you are planning on reading everything.
Nice thing is Wednesday it is open late.

This is a great little museum with history on many different subjects and very nice special exhibits. Could have spent more time here but the museum was closing. Will probably return when we’re in town again.

somthings for younger kids even grand kids if you need abreather or,a rest there it came in handy they are so cool there you really do feel like rushing through it.
