Tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. The grounds are kept up nicely and offer a selection of historic buildings to explore. The gift shop was very tidy and offered a variety of affordable items. If you are in the area you should definitely visit this historic site.

Nice, easy to access lighthouse that also isn't super duper tall. Great information on the grounds that pertain to the USCG and the history of this lighthouse.

What an experience! Our guide was informative without 'droning on'. He was helpful and patient with those of us who may have walked or climbed slowly. He was good with the kids who were also in our group.

LOVE to visit this lighthouse. Have never been in the lighthouse or any of the buildings but enjoy walking around the grounds and taking it all in.

The Fort Gratiot Light is an excellent lighthouse right in town. It has been kept in great condition and includes many outbuildings. It was a drizzly morning when I was there, but the photos turned out really good. I walked all over the property and out to the beach. It's great from any angle.

The history of the light house is actually given in the rather large living quarters, the building in front of the actual lighthouse. The guide takes you through the home, explaining the challenges that many keepers and their families faced. The steps to the top of the lighthouse are a bit shallow so watch your footing as you climb for the terrific view.

We live locally, but participated in this tour as a group of 11 with out of state relatives. Jerry, our tour guide, was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. This is an affordable and “must do” experience. You tour the grounds and learn so much local history, with a lighthouse climb as the grand finale.

Is there a rocky part of the beach? There is a picture on the internet of a very pretty rocky beach and it says Port Huron. Just trying to find out the location.

The lighthouse and surrounding historic buildings are enclosed by a fence. There is a sandy beach outside the fencing. The amount of rocks as well as the amount of beach is dependent on this year's weather as winter turns into spring.

I'm sorry that I can't say for sure about that. I only visited for a little while during the daytime. I didn't notice it operating, and I didn't see any information stating whether it was (or wasn't) currently operational.
