This is a fairy tale location. I wish I could have spent more time inside, but it was growing late in the evening when we arrived. The exterior is a dream, the interior is in need of some repair. Still charming, nevertheless. There were a number of bride and groom couples all taking pictures on the grounds. That was a little distracting, but I completely understand the appeal of the location.

The outside architecture of the castle is really amazing. Inside, it is a total disappointment. Most of the wonderful wall painting is lost, no genuine furniture or objects are displayed since all precious objects were stolen by the Russian army in the second world war and by the people from the neighboring village. They were replaced with objects from donations which in many cases do not fit inside. During the communist period it was used as a grain depot. The worst thing is that the wonderful original floors were replaced with horrible tiles or wood and the amazing gothic windows and doors were painted with a terrible brown paint, making them to look as made of plastic.
It is a shame that nobody does anything to revive the glory of this architectural gem. It is said that the castle will be restored in the next 10 years, but this should have been done till now. Completely and correctly restored, this castle may be one of the first three landmarks in Romania.
The guide came almost 15 min after the scheduled time for visit and told us that we still have to wait, without any excuses. Not very professional in his explanations also, with some inappropriate jokes.
This castle is an example of the indifference of the people in charge with taking care of such an architectural gem.

Unbelievable location! If you’re nearby, don’t miss this! Inside the location you also can find a fancy restaurant with really good food!

Sturdza castle is relatively close to Iasi city and can make a good one-day trip. It is located in the middle of a nice park and there is a restaurant close by and a monastery. Other things (a wine cellar, a guest house) are planned or under construction. Some remarkable events are regularly held here.
The exterior of the building is quite interesting. The interiors will be restored in the next years but, even now, they worth a visit, especially a guided one. It’s a good place to better understand the last century of Romanian history and to see what damage can be inflicted by disasters like savage Red Army soldiers or communist ruling.

A very nice, quiet place, clean air. Nature complements the work of the architect. The park is very beautiful and well kept and in the middle of it there is a monastery.
The complete renovation of the castle will be an important achievement for this area.

Hidden inside of a large park, just some hundreds meters from the national road, the palace is impressive. Enjoy, the park, the tour of the palace and the history lesson. The refurbishment should last for the next 10 years, but I think it will transform the place in one of the most beautiful places in Romania.

מצאנו מקום לינה מיוחד וגילינו מקום מדהים מלא היסטוריה ויופי. בבוקינג מצאנו את Casa Macrina ומצטבר שזה בית הארחה של Castel Sturzda. הגענו למקום מאוד מיוחד עם. אירוח האוד לבבי. למדנו הרבה על המקום וחווינו תרבות רומני. הסיור בתוך הטירה היה מאוד מעניין ולטייל בסביבו היתה חוויה הגדית. מאוד ממליצות את המקום גם לטיול וגם לנשמה כי המקום מאוד מתאים לכמה ימים של שלווה.

Castelo gótico que foi parcialmente destruído em um incêndio. Sua fachada é simplesmente linda. Quem quiser passar algum tempo nele, pode aproveitar para almoçar em um pavilhão ao lado. E pode também visitar um monastério que fica a poucos minutos de caminhada.

It is both called Miclauseni Castle and Strudza Palace and it is indeed a magical place to be.
Not only that it is surrounded by this amazing garden where every single year it is organised a vintage party where you can eat, dress and party like in the 1830's, but the neogotic architecture just takes your breath away.
The whole interior painting on the wall was painted by Strudza's wife and some parts of the paintings can still be seen today. Very beautiful place!

I was impressed by Sturdza Castle from Miclauseni because the interior and the exterior is of extraordinary beauty. The guide is dedicated to the history of the castle, which has attracted our interest in the stories of the place and the people who once lived in this castle. What is interesting to know is that here was an impressive library of tens of thousands of valuable books that was destroyed by Russian soldiers and residents of Miclauseni. I highly recommend visiting this castle!
