Drove by here after playing Lincoln up the street a few months back and wasn’t impressed with the first look from parking lot. But have been on a journey to check out as many courses as we can while getting the best bang for our buck like most anyone else. Several courses up the lakeshore ( Oceana, Colonial etc.) are having specials on Fridays while others are charging weekend rates. Bent Pine has $22 on Friday and we spotted a “giveaway “ $12.99 (18 w cart) rate on TeeOff.com and worried after a couple inches of rain early morning 7/23/21 that they would be closed or delayed like Lincoln ( who I had to call to get someone to check local conditions) Finally reached the young gal in clubhouse and it was a go and snagged a hot deal.
Ok about the course, probably should not have been open as we were sloshing around looking for” high “ spots on most of the fairways. The greens were good and rolled well and of course stuck when attacking flags. No roll on fairways, several natural ponds, don’t remember much if any sand traps. Except for the perimeter holes fairly open but some treeline on the west holes and bogs and “burns”.
The rate was a no brainer but I’d be hard pressed to come back and pay $22 on a Friday when I as a senior can go to Thoroughbred for $30 which is never busy and was nominated for best new resort course in 1994 and a beautiful Arthur Hills design and as close to a local Treetops as you can get.
Bent Pine just didn’t have enough character and trees( and good drainage) as we’d like but I’d rate it on par with several average tracks in the greater Muskegon golf market.

Played Bent Pines Golf Club a par-71 course. Course was in very good condition. Water comes into play on about half the holes. Two sets of tees measuring 5798- and 4797-yards. If in the area a nice course to play
