This museum was much more than we expected. There is a firehouse kitchen and bunkhouse to view upstairs. In the basement is a nice play area and some other fire memorabilia. There are many fire trucks here on the first floor. Some exhibits are of fire patches, hats, toys and bells. This is a fire museum worth a visit.

The Michigan Firehouse Museum is a rather nice gem in downtown Ypsilanti that shows the history of the fire engines in the state & has quite a few displays to back up the history. There is a collection of fire hats worn by the various departments within the state of Michigan as well as the patches of these departments. In the upstairs of this museum is a recreation of a kitchen as well as bunkhouse & a fire pole as well. Additionally, the display of Smokey the Bear memorabilia is nice as well. If this museum has any disadvantage is that parking can be an adventure since the museum only has 3 parking spots that aren't well marked in behind the building (although I was able to park in a city park which is within 2 blocks of the museum).

There is a lot of history in this small museum. They have a lot of equipment spanning over a century. All were very well done. It may take just an hour to see, but it’s worth it. Parking is limited to three spaces in the back, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Музей расположен в бывшей пожарной части и на втором этаже сохранены комнаты, где пожарники проводили время во время дежурств - с кроватями, кухней и проч. На первом этаже пожарные машины разных лет и прочий пожарный антураж - форма, каски и проч. Познавательно. В машинах можно посидеть, так что детям тоже было бы интересно. Вход платный.

Was surprised to learn that this museum is partnered with the National Park system. I can see why. It presents many aspects of firefighting and firehouses through the centuries. Very enjoyable.

Well displayed collection of fire fighting equipment - primarily vehicles- from mid 19th century on. It was particularly fun to look over the horse drawn rigs. It is a fun way for young and old enthusiasts to spend 2-3 hrs.

Affordable, interesting, teaching moment in history about fire stations. It is a piece of history that has been preserved and brings to life by creating the picture of firemen and their station.

I had seen this location for years and there is much more than meets the eye here. From the outside it looks like it would only be a short visit to see all there is, but when you step inside you find a fire museum that is true Lt unique. The layout of the facility is easy to navigate and full of memorabilia that is interesting for anyone everyone, not just firefighters. It is cool museum to make police officers jealous, just kidding.

Have to start off by saying my kids are absolutely thrilled by fire trucks, ambulances, police cars etc., pretty much anything public safety related. I found this place via a website search of "Firetruck museums" on Google. Knowing we were going to be going back to the other side of the state soon to put it on our schedule of places to visit. Kids were over the moon and so were mom & dad once we arrived. Was very pleased firstly by the admission of a family of 4 could visit & spend 2 + hours looking around for under $20.00. The facility itself, had tons of things to see. Not only lots of fire vehicles but actual tools of the trade,historical items including parts of the original fire station the building is part of. Even had a play area in the basement (one of three full floors!) Needless to say if you have a "fire enthusiast" in your family young or old or happen to be one yourself I'd recommend a visit. Very neat collection of items of various sorts.
