Bush Lake Park and Hyland Lake Park Reserve, the scenic retreat in the heart of Bloomington are in my neighborhood. I love bird watching and enjoy bike riding in the parks in summer. What a blessing to live near such beautiful areas!

The Play Area at Hyland Park is one of the best we've ever seen. Our twin six-year-old granddaughters love it. Soft, spongy surface, lots of fun things to climb on, slide down, swing around, etc. We take the twins there whenever we are in the area. Nice picnic tables, some with large umbrella awnings. We usually stay about two hours: some play time, then a picnic lunch, then more play.

My first visit there, I reserved a kayak online. While other area lakes were closing due to high E.coli levels in the water, this one wasn't. After arriving, I wondered if they had checked then because wow- green and sightly smelly. The lake itself we really large, and without motorcrafts- which was very appealing. A good variety of daytime animals on the shores and wateredge. I'd return, maybe earlier season before the green-whatever-bloom happens.

This park has an amazing play area! Our 9 and 6 year old had a blast climbing the multitude of rope structures, sliding down the three story slides and climbing through tunnels. Our 3 year old needed a lot of assistance (making sure his foot didn’t get stuck in the ropes).
There are a couple water misting stations.
There are two small play areas, suitable for a toddler (good luck keeping them off the bigger playground!).

The setting is beautiful around Hyland Lake. We went specifically for the kids playground. Our 5 kids ranging from 2-10 had a blast. The play structure was huge. Tons of slides, climbing ropes, climbing walls, and passageways. No openings up high so very safe for kids to play. Kids got lost for a couple hours just having fun. The ground is soft for the little ones and there is also a little kids play area with sand. Would highly recommend this playground - best we visited in MN.

We live real close to the park. We really enjoy the parks walking and biking trails. We've also used our kayak on the lake. We especially like to take our grandsons there so they can play in the wonderful climbing area they have. It's also a fun place to have family picnics. Bottom line, it's a great park for just about anything you would want to do.So go and have fun !!!

I’ve been going here for many years.! I especially like it in the spring with all the new growth and birds and animals waking up. Easy walking on paved trails. Spend a half hour or all day and you won’t regret it.

Terrific park with excellent walking and biking paths. In the summer you can canoe or kayak on the lake in the park. Always take my grandchildren to the outdoor play area when they visit in the summer. The paths connect you to the Richardson Nature Center which is a lovely facility with lots of learning opportunities for kids of all ages. Beautiful Bush Lake Swimming Beach is across the road from Hyland Lake Park Reserve. So much fun in this area!

I go into this park on a regular basis. The trails are great for walking. The lakes and ponds have all kinds of birds and ducks. The trails are great for bicycling in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter. They make snow for cross country skiing, so the trails tend to be good all winter. I highly recommend this park.

Yes. dogs are allowed in the Hyland Lake Park Reserve. There are miles of hiking trails that welcome dogs on leashes. I've not seen dogs in the Playground area.

Ditto, you could if you wanted to, but there is no real beach and it is not really conducive to swimming. Bush Lake, which is literally across from Hyland Park has a great beach and is excellent for swimming. They do have lifeguards on most week ends.
