Beautiful regional museum, rural location. Suitable for young and old!! For the kids there are many activities and there is also a treasure hunt. The whole gives you a perfect picture of former life in the countryside. The museum is well cared for and there are very enthusiastic volunteers. Go away!!!!

What a nice surprise this was!
We found this museum through the heart of Limburg website and went there without knowing exactly what to expect. It was very quiet despite the summer holidays and the quite nice weather, something we didn't really understand because it is a very nice and educational place. A little regional museum, a little old-fashioned open-air museum, a little modern Floriade-like themed exhibitions. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves for over 4 hours, learned and laughed a lot, were able to take nice pictures and ended with delicious special coffee with pie for only 13 euros. We really think this is highly recommended. They regularly have live music and children's entertainment, which was not there today which could explain the tranquility. There is a nice playground and at the old school and in the circus tent all kinds of old Dutch games can be done from Tollen, shuffleboard to stilt walking and much more. We were two adults ourselves. For us the silence was not annoying because we could watch and read everything in peace, but for the museum we would wish them more activity. They deserve that. It seems to be done entirely by volunteers but apart from the chicken coop everything was nice and clean, neat and cared for with lots of information. Go here by all means! If you have the opportunity to do it by bike, I would certainly not fail to do so, the surroundings are beautiful and there is a signposted cycle route at the museum. We didn't do this one because one of our bikes got maintenance but it looks very nice. Perfect recommendation for a nice afternoon/half day away. Lots of free parking (navigation doesn't steer you very well, just follow the signs), tickets via website a little cheaper.

What a fantastic museum! Well maintained and very versatile. We really enjoyed the exhibition 'the 70s'! This museum deserves a big 10!

Going back to the 50's till 70's, A walk down memory lane. Loved it!
You can also enjoy the lovely gardens, woodenshoe shop, brewery, cheesemaking etc all in style off past time.
Terug naar de jaren 50 t/m de 70 jaren. Jeugdsentiment. Heerlijk!
Je kan er ook genieten van kruidentuinen, klompenmakerij en een eenvoudige brouwerij.
Alles in de style van voorbije jaren.

What a very nice museum, very versatile, recognizable and well maintained. The design of the many rooms will make you feel like you're back in your youth in no time. Very funny. The entrance fee of €11 is really worth it.

Nice open-air museum for young and old. Not that big but worth it because of the offer. Volunteers, who support the museum, are enthusiastic and happy to talk about their museum.

The museum's offering is surprisingly versatile. Different types of buildings and various crafts are kept "alive" by the many volunteers with their stories and knowledge. Their enthusiasm, knowledge of and care for our heritage is paramount. Mushroom and asparagus cultivation, as well as the cultivation of roses and gerberas, have their place in the museum. The current exhibition about the seventies is a celebration of recognition for those who consciously experienced this period. Children are certainly not forgotten. The shop and restaurant are also worth a visit. During our holiday we visited twice within 14 days.

Very nice museum. Time travel through the 1970s exhibition but also through all the attributes and buildings that bring the past back to life. It is also nice that you can just touch anything, unless it is explicitly stated that this is not allowed.
There is also an extensive mushroom pavilion with interesting explanations.
Old crafts are often practiced throughout the museum by friendly volunteers. From spinning wool, making syrup to baking bread. That bread is also for sale in the museum shop and is delicious!
In the museum restaurant we ate a hamburger with mushrooms on that delicious bread.
In short, we will definitely come back.

The museum is run entirely by volunteers. They are very friendly and happy to provide information and explanations. Everything looks well maintained. Very informative. Definitely worth a visit.
